Magnus extinguished the oil Lamp, and then used the chamber pot in the dark. He got out of his clothes and then went into bed in the same position as Last night. This time Fiona put her feet on his face right away.

“I assume there is a difference, Mistress?"

“You assume right. There are three characteristics that will determine the power and level of your spells. The first one is magical strength.

Magical strength determines how much energy you can pull into a spell.

It will influence the strength, area of effect, and duration of the spell. There are also some higher level spells that can't be done by mages whose magical strength doesn't meet a certain threshold. Magical strength does not change. You are born with it. It is the only one that can be sensed by other mages, but only if you allow it. It is what I tested yesterday to determine if you got magical ability.”

“So, if I fought against your attempt, you wouldn't have been able to see if I got the ability or not?"

“If you were a skilled mage, you would have been able to hide it from me, yes. But being as unskilled as you are, it would still allow me to sense the ability in you, but I wouldn‘t have been able to determine the exact strength."

“Second characteristic, magical talent. We could also call it a specialty. It is your particular aptitude for a certain spell or group of spells. It is possible to have more than one talent, although I don't know anybody who has more than two. This ability is not easy to figure out. It will take a long time and practice to figure out your specialty. Anyway, that means that you will be able to cast spells that fall under your specialty with increased strength and control. In some cases the talent can make you able to even pull out spells that would otherwise be impossible, regardless of strength "

“Mistress, what is your talent?"
