She rolled her eyes.
“If you don't want to answer my question properly..." She trailed off.
“Okay, relax. The doctor said that I need to be kept under observation tonight. I can get my ass out of the hospital first thing in the morning.
Evelyn sighed resignedly. ‘Why can't he just speak normally for once?"
Joshua stood up to leave.
“Alright then! I've done enough fun for today and even watched Sheffield make a fool of himself. I'll leave you two alone now. Sheffield, stay put in bed and don't even think about hanging around with different girls. I know you are not a virgin, but please, keep it in your pants for a while. Hold onto your Eve and get some rest."
Before Sheffield could counter, Evelyn looked Joshua in the eye and asked, "What about you, Joshua? Do you hook up with different women?"
Joshua froze. It was a direct question from his future sister-in-law.
He was more serious than Sheffield when he promised that he would not race again.
"Rest assured, Evelyn. I don't play around with women. I'm a loyal man and will be sincere to my partner until my very end," he promised.
Sheffield thought that this was best time to get back at Joshua.
"Eve, don't trust him. He is a liar. You know, he once booked the whole cosmetics floor at Shining International Plaza on a date and told the woman to pick out whatever she wanted."
Joshua rushed towards him and shut his mouth.
"What about you? Evelyn, listen to this! Once, a woman claimed that she was pregnant with his baby. And you know what he said?"
"Someone was pregnant with Sheffield's child?' Evelyn frowned without responding. She was somewhat frustrated.
With a mean smirk, Joshua continued despite Sheffield's best efforts to stop him, "This shameless man said, ‘Oh, that's a miracle!'"
Evelyn was perplexed. ‘A miracle? I don't get it, ' she thought.
Looking at the confused woman in front of him, Sheffield blurted out in a wronged tone, “I never slept with her, and she claimed to be pregnant with my child. What else could I say?"
Evelyn wondered why she had to leave the comfort of her bed in the middle of the night just to hear these two men rake up each other's past. Were they really best friends?
“Oh, don't act like a saint. You are no good!" Joshua said, as he wrestled out of Sheffield's hands.
"I gotta go. Evelyn, make sure to teach him a lesson. I am not even bluffing; he used to have a lot of women around him." He stormed out of the ward when Sheffield tried to get out of his bed.
After Joshua left, he said, “Evelyn, I admit that I had many girlfriends. But I've never slept with any of them. I was never serious about those women. None of them were special, and you were the only one who stole my heart.”
Evelyn wasn't affected by his words.
“Sleep. I'm going home.”
Fearing that she would turn around and leave, Sheffield jumped out of the bed and held the woman in his arms.
