“Got it." Wasting no more time, he started the car and took Evelyn to the nearest hospital.
When they arrived at the hospital, Evelyn immediately asked to get an ultrasound examination.
Within half an hour, her whole convoy had returned to Alorith.
In the Hilton family's manor
The moment Evelyn arrived home, she immediately called Carlos who was at work and asked him to come home. Debbie had made plans to go to an art exhibit with her friends but upon receiving her daughter's call, she rushed home right away.
Evelyn didn't call Miranda, since her grandmother was out of the country.
Sitting in his study, Carlos asked in confusion, “I thought you were going to get Sheffield back? Why are you home so soon?" While he didn't agree with this decision of Evelyn's, he had no choice but to let her go since she was adamant about doing it.
Evelyn didn't say anything. Instead, she just silently looked at
Carlos.
Carlos’ heart sank; he was unable to shake off the bad feeling he was getting.
“What's going on?"
Evelyn finally opened her mouth.
“Dad, Mom... I'm pregnant."
“Evelyn, what did you just say?" Carlos stood up in shock. A myriad of feelings arose in his heart. Angry? Disappointed? Or happy? Carlos wasn't exactly sure yet how he really felt about this piece of news.
Debbie felt no different. Holding Evelyn's hand, she asked, “Are you sure? Have you had a check-up?”
"I had an ultrasound at the hospital earlier."
“What did the doctor say?"
Evelyn took a deep breath as she repeated the doctor's words.
“The doctor said I've been pregnant for ten weeks. But since I already have a history, it's a complicated pregnancy. The fetus is unstable for now.
The doctor told me to stay in bed until I give birth."
With that, Carlos lost his mind. He didn't even have to ask who the father was. He just knew. He tried to hold back his anger and demanded,
"Call that idiot right now! And tell him to come back this instant!"
Evelyn was pregnant again so what the hell was Sheffield doing in another city?
Evelyn smiled bashfully. She'd already messaged Sheffield when they were on their way home. It had been more than an hour since then and he still hadn't responded.
Her simple message wrote, "Sheffield." She decided to wait for his reply first before saying anything else.
