I really wanted to try that force thing. As we walked, I kept thinking about doing it on command. When it happened before, I was angry and didn’t realize what I was doing. I remember I just needed space or wanted Wyatt to get away from me. Visualizing a force being pushed forward did not work. I tried pushing my hands forward, which only resulted in the electricity blasting a tree and splinters went flying! After that, everyone was very aware of me and kept giving me glances in humorous fear.
I was getting frustrated now. Nothing was working. I gave up trying for the moment. Trevor put his hand up and signaled for us to be quiet. I wonder if we are getting to the place to meet Justin. I was getting hungry and my stomach was starting to growl. I hadn’t really eaten anything and the thought of eating a rabbit or squirrel was mouthwatering. Hearing someone approach had us all on the balls of our feet.
Justin appeared from behind a few trees and his eyes went straight to me. For some reason, the feeling of happiness was just overwhelming. His presence just meant I was that much closer to Wyatt.
“You are a hard person to find Luna!”
Rolling my eyes, “Just call me Nina”
“No can do, not respectful I’m afraid! Trevor” Justin knowledge him with a nod. “And you boys are?”
“These are Clint, Jack, Brad and Mateo” I said, pointing each guy out. “This is Justin, he is with Wyatt.”
“Where are we headed?” Trevor asked Justin, getting right down to business.
“We are close to Jasper, Al, we need to make it to Grant, Al. There is a pack a few miles from the city that we have connections to. The Blue Moon Pack has been our allies for decades and we grew up with the future alpha going to training and different things. It is about a 90 -mile hike, but I think we should stay hidden in the woods due to traffic. They will be monitoring the roads. Reed is the future alpha of the pack and has warriors moving to intercept us. There are under- ground tunnels they use and will help us get to safety. We need to keep moving.”
“I’m sorry, but I have been held hostage for I don’t even know how many days. I need food!” I said, not even a little bit ashamed. “Even if it is a squirrel or rabbit!” For some reason, I was greeted with pity in their eyes. They all just stared at me and looked around like he didn’t know what to do. “Well, f**k boys, it isn’t that hard to catch an animal and cook it!”
“Yeah, no can-do Luna, I will grab us good here shorty. There is a little town ahead and I will grab something there. We have to keep going.” Justin said. I just nodded and started walking. I should f*****g zap Justin for denying me food. Just one good little zap.
I waited till he was ahead of me and I let out a little strand of electricity and got right in line with his right b**t cheek and pushed it right into there hard!
“AAAARRRRRGGG!!!” screamed Justin “What the f**k was that?”
“Nina…” Clint said quietly. They were all trying not to laugh and hid their smiles.
“You discovered your powers?” Justin said as he rubbed his a*s cheek.
“Some, I am still learning to control them. I can do a few things, though pretty good, and using some electricity is one of them.”
“Good, don’t try that one out on me again!” He looked around “I assume you all got tested on?”
“Just ask Mr. Katie Perry over here”, Clint said as he nudged Jack.
“F**k off” Jack said stubbornly and started walking again as we busted out laughing at him.
“Okay, boys! Focus! I need food!”
“Luna is hungry, let’s keep moving!” Justin said and resumed walking.
We walked in silence for about 20 minutes and just as I was about to throw a fit, I smelled the most wonderful thing. Grease! That means food!
“You guys stay here and I will get us food,” Justin said.
“I want the whole damn menu!” I shouted as Justin ran off. Crossing my arms, I needed to sit down for a minute. Finding a tree with a flat spot, I sat down and laid my head against the tree. I didn’t realize how bad my legs ached. I lost some muscle mass while I was sitting in a case with no food. I needed to work out again. The other boys followed my lead and relaxed.
“Trevor, what happened after I left?” I asked, not sure if I wanted to know the answer to that.
He looked at me sadly like he didn’t want to answer either. “Everything changed when Damian wasn’t your mate. It was like a switch went off. He had his whole life planned with you. How you were going to lead his people, be his Luna. Your personality is much different than Holly’s. After Holly realized she wasn’t in your shadow anymore, power got to her head. She would boss people around and hand out punishments that were too harsh or not even really needed. Damian had to put a mussel on her, per say. I know with a little guidance she would be a good Luna, but Damian has decided that she is worthless and only wants her to produce an heir. To be fair, I think she sees her mistakes. I think she was the one that started the fire at your parent’s house. I have no proof but she was jealous of you after Damian couldn’t just switch off years’ worth of love. She caught him going to your house and sleeping in your bed. I don’t think he is a good mate for her either. She needs someone who will love and cherish her. Someone that won’t be dreaming of another woman. I don’t blame you, none of this is your fault. But it isn’t hers either. I came to help you because I couldn’t be under his leadership anymore. He is driving the pack to the ground and making decisions that will lead to the destruction of the pack. I think you represent a new beginning and if I can get Holly out of there, she can start over too.”
I had tears in my eyes by the end of that. I felt so bad for Holly. None of this was her fault. Trevor was right, she needed a new beginning. “Damian won’t let her go, will he?”
Trevor got a dark look to him, “No, he won’t. I honestly thought about asking Wyatt to challenge Damian and take over the pack. Get new leadership over there. Did you know that Damian’s dad challenged his alpha and won, making him alpha? There isn’t even alpha blood in their family tree. I heard rumors that he cheated but it could never be proven. Either way, he is not fit to be an alpha. I had hopes when I thought you were his mate. You should steer the pack in the right direction.”
Holy shit! I did not know that! “How did you find that out?”
“One night, Damian got drunk and spilled. Apparently, it is a big family secret. I even tried asking the older generation, but as long as the Alpha is alive, they will not speak of it. They were commanded”
I was stunned. I never realized it. Though it was never questioned either. Why would someone question the alpha’s blood line? If the pack is growing and running smoothly, why bring up the past? Most people who aren’t of alpha bloodline are usually from beta or something.
“Do you know what his family bloodline is?”
“I don’t. I was never able to figure that out before I needed to leave. I had to leave without Damian knowing or he would have commanded me to stay or bring him along. I left a note and I will denounce my ties here soon.
“Hmm” is all I got out before Justin appeared with 4 bags of food and water.
He walked right over to me, handed me a bag with water and sat down. Unloading the bags, we handed out burgers to each guy with a small thing of fries and a water. I could hear the guys talking but my mind was on Damian’s bloodline.
