Chapter 312

"Yeah. Are you going to your mom'stomorrow?". I wanted to know if theyhad been invited to.

"It'll be to talk about graduation".

"What about it?". I frowned.

"They'll want to know what gift theyshould get you or if you prefer money".

Eh?

"Shut up". I made a face.

"I'm being serious. I've opted formoney because I'm leaving".

"I don't want a gift". I didn't want tosound rude, but I didn't need a giftbecause I was graduating from school.

“You have to. They'll be so offended ifyou don't let them give you something.

It's a tradition in our family. JakesFerrari. Yeah, that was his graduationgift".

He got a car for graduating highschool.

Money talks and it seemed they hada lot of it.

Was buying graduation gifts a thing?I know she just said it was tradition intheir family but come on. It was a littlemuch was it not.

"I don't need anything, and I won'taccept money". I didn't need money notafter what my g ran left me.

"Suit yourself". She shrugged."Butyou know what my mom's like".

I knew exactly what she was like. Shewouldn't take no for an answer andthen I would feel guilty for not

accepting anything from them. Icouldn't win.

"Just accept it and say thank you".She finally sat down. "If you're makingtea, I'll have one".

I made us both a cup and went backinto the living room.

"How's Carter doing?". I asked.

I hadn't seen him in a few days. Hewas the one person I wanted to tellbefore we broke the news to everyoneelse. He was my family.

"He's so wrapped up in stuff with hispack I've hardly spoken to him. He'salways so stressed out and pissed off".

That didn't sound like Carter at all. Hewas always so chilled and laid back.Nothing ever fazed him.

"I'm starting to think he's made thewrong decision". She added.

Maybe he has but he made thatdecision, and he wants to go home. Noone could change his mind on that. Ididn't want him to leave but if hethought it was best for him then I wasn'tgoing to stop him.

"Have you tried talking to him?". Iasked.

"I don't want to go".

My heart sank. She couldn't do this. She couldn't make him choose becausehe would choose her.

“You need to talk to him”.

“I can't stand in his way Leah. Hewants to go back and lead the pack asBeta. His rank means nothing here and Iknow that's a hard pill for him to

swallow".

"So, you're going to let him go on hisown?". I didn't like how I was feelingright now."You're going to break yourbond?".

"What, no". She frowned."Justbecause I don't want to go doesn'tmean I'm not going. I'm just venting, I'mhomesick even thinking about it andwe've not even left yet".
