“Does he know you’re here?”. My gran asked.
“I’m letting him cool off”. I took a sip of my water. “He blew off the handle again because I’m doing something he doesn’t want.
“Do you really want to leave things like this?”.
“No, of course not but I’m not going to be the first one to brake. He was the one that stormed off instead of staying so we could talk. He’ll find me when he’s ready”.
“I’m sure he’s just worried”.
“Worried about what? I’m going to stay with my dad for a few weeks. I’m not going to be in any danger”.
“He’s your mate Leah”.
“Yeah, but once again he’s acting like a jackass because he doesn’t want me to go. He’s trying to guilt me into staying”.
“I’m sure that’s not true”.
“Oh, it is. He plays this card every time and it works but no, I’m not falling for it this time. I have to do this and if he doesn’t understand that then that’s on him”.
“Letting him cool off is probably for the best”. She spoke. “I need to run to the store but you’re free to stay here”.
“I think I’m the one that needs to cool off. I swear he gets me so angry at times. I was stupid to think he would be okay with this. Makes me wonder if he was ever going to be okay with it”.
“I’m sure he’ll come to his senses. Nothing is too serious that it can’t be resolved”.
“You mean he’ll come back with his tail between his legs”.
“They always do”. She smiled. “Maybe ask him to go with you?”.
“I thought I’d want him to come with me but when I really think about it, I don’t think I do. He doesn’t have the patience to teach me because if he did, I wouldn’t be going”.
“Surely, this isn’t the only reason you’re going back with your dad, right?”.
“No”. I made a face. “Of course, not but nothing else is working and nobody here is interested on whether I can shift or not. Do you know I barely know anyone in this pack. They talk to me in passing because they have to, they’re nice to my face at gatherings but I dread to think about what they think of me”.
“Now I think you’re being ridiculous”. She sighed.
“Am I?”. I crossed my arms over my chest. “Because right now I feel like I don’t belong here”.
“Leah”. She frowned. “What’s going on for you to think like that?”.
“I don’t know”. I chewed the inside of my cheek. “But I feel I’m stuck in a rut and can’t get out”.
“And you think going to your dads is going to help you?”. She asked.
“It can’t hurt”.
“Have you talked to Jake about how you’re feeling?”.
“No, because this”. I waved my hands around. “This is what happens anytime I try to talk about anything serious. He just thinks I’m being ridiculous and overthinking”.
“I thought he stormed off because he doesn’t want you to go?”. She frowned.
“Yeah, but I tried to talk to him about how I was feeling and then my dad came up and me going with him-… you get the drift”.
“I think you really need to talk to him about it. If you’re not happy then sweetheart, you need to tell him”. Thɪs chapter is updatᴇd by Find[ɴ]ovel.net
“I didn’t say I wasn’t happy. I love my life, and I love where I’m at but”. I paused. I didn’t want to sound ungrateful because I was grateful for everything I had in life. “I think I feel the way I do because I’m the same as them but different”.
