Gerard's voice echoed through the phone. “Wait for me downstairs of the hotel. I'll be there to pick you up."
With a gentle click, he ended the call and made his way to the elevator.
Meanwhile, in the room, Lilah lay in bed, still feeling a twinge of discomfort.
Suddenly, the phone rang, startling her.
Without checking the caller ID, she answered weakly, "Hello, who's this?"
"It's me, Lilah." Matthew's voice reached her ears.
Lilah's brow furrowed. "What is it? I'll end the call if there's nothing important you want to say."
Matthew's tone softened. "I understand you're upset with me. I tried to visit you at the hospital, only to find you had left. I want you to know that I acknowledge my mistakes."
“And what exactly are you trying to convey?" Lilah asked with an air of indifference.
“I'm not asking for forgiveness. I hope for the chance to see you. I went to the company looking for you, but Emma mentioned you were out on a trip. Where are you now?"
With a grimace from the intermittent pain in her Lower abdomen, Lilah declared, "I'm ending this call!"
She ended the call with a decisive click.
She tossed the phone aside and closed her eyes, preparing to drift into a restful slumber.
However, as soon as she shut her eyes, memories of her life with the Phillips family flooded her mind, along with the painful events that had transpired. She couldn't help but frown, wishing desperately to banish them from her thoughts.
Meanwhile, Gerard picked up Bexley and they headed to the tourism branch of the Harris Group.
When they entered the hall, the two girls seated at the front desk immediately noticed Gerard and Bexley. With eager smiles, they rose from their seats and approached the pair, their eyes filled with adoration as they gazed at Gerard.
His striking appearance captivated their attention instantly, Leaving them in awe. A palpable air of authority and confidence surrounded him, infusing the room with his commanding presence.
Noticing the two girls casting longing glances at Gerard, Bexley couldn't shake off the discomfort settling in her gut.
"Welcome! Are you here for consultation or business?" one of the receptionists inquired, her tone friendly.
Gerard replied, “I'd like to explore the upstairs area, please."
"Certainly, sir. Follow me," she chirped, leading them onward with a warm smile.
“Okay.”
Gerard nodded in acknowledgment and trailed behind the receptionist as she led the way.
Just then, a figure clad in a blue suit entered the hall. Instantly, the other receptionist stationed at the front desk sprang to her feet, her demeanor transforming into one of utmost respect. "Hello, Mr. Hampton."
