“Hey, it's me, Bexley," came the cheerful response.

Upon recognizing Bexley's voice, Lilah asked warily, “Is there something you need from me?"

"Could we meet up? I'll text you the location. I think it's best we talk face to face," Bexley said. She was currently seated in a coffee shop.

Lilah was hesitant, but after thinking about Bexley's recent actions, she eventually agreed and said, “Alright, then."

After ending the call, Bexley promptly sent the coffee shop's address to Lilah. Upon receiving it, Lilah messaged Gerard, “I've got an unexpected errand. I need to go out."

Gerard didn't respond to her message.

Observing this, Lilah slipped her phone into her pocket, curious about Bexley's intentions.

An hour later, Lilah arrived at the coffee shop.

As soon as she glanced through the French windows, she spotted Bexley sitting there.

Lilah entered the coffee shop and went over to Bexley.

“Please, have a seat," Bexley greeted her gently.

Lilah took a seat and gazed at Bexley, asking, “What's the matter? Why did you want to meet?"

Bexley spoke slowly. "I need to discuss what happened last night. It's not what you're thinking. Gerard and I didn't do anything."

Bexley knew any woman hearing this would surely overthink it. She didn't think Lilah would stay indifferent this time.

Just when Bexley thought it would work, Lilah sneered, “And? What are you trying to say?"

"I was just..." Bexley was surprised. Why was Lilah's reaction so different from what she had expected?

Before Bexley could finish, Lilah interrupted, “Are you genuinely trying to clear up any misunderstandings, or do you have ulterior motives? I think you know deep down."

"What do you mean by that?" Bexley was a little flustered but kept her cool and denied it.

Lilah confronted Bexley directly, saying, “From the moment we met, your intentions were obvious-to get closer to Gerard. How many tricks have you pulled in these past few days? And don't think we've forgotten about last night. Anyone with a hint of common sense can see what you're up to.”

Bexley's expression darkened as she was exposed. She feigned ignorance. "What do you mean? There's no way I would do something like that on purpose! Gerard and I are friends. I would never do something like that!"

“Let me tell you, there's a clear line between pretense and reality. Don't lose yourself in the act. No matter how hard you try for someone who isn't meant to be yours, he will never be." As Lilah spoke, she stood up.

Bexley's gaze sharpened, brimming with hatred. She tightened her grip, her fingernails sinking into her palm.

As Lilah walked away, she heard Bexley call out from behind, “Lilah, do you truly believe Gerard loves you?"

Lilah responded with a mocking smile. But as she turned, her expression shifted to surprise, her eyes widened, and she stepped back.
