The receptionist's eyes widened in realization. "Siena, she did come to see you. Go on."
“Alright Siena found Lilah somewhat familiar but couldn't quite place her."
After a few seconds, Siena regained her focus, approached Lilah, and took a seat across from her. She removed her jacket and neatly placed it on the chair beside her. "Hi, do I know you? You seem familiar."
Lilah spoke softly. "We haven't formally met, but we crossed paths yesterday. I believe you might recognize the woman who was scalded."
Siena's demeanor shifted, her expression becoming guarded. “Who are you?"
“Don't worry, I simply have a question for you," Lilah reassured her, sensing Siena's apprehension.
Stammering slightly, Siena replied, "Go ahead."
Lilah continued calmly, "Yesterday, you witnessed the incident where that woman was scalded. Why haven't you spoken up about what really happened?"
Siena's face paled, and she feigned ignorance, saying, “I don't know what you're referring to."
"Is it that you genuinely don't know, or are you choosing not to disclose?" Lilah pressed, noting Siena's evasive response. "I've already reached an agreement with the woman. I've agreed to certain terms. I'm simply advising you that now she's been injured, she'll likely seek compensation. She'll blame you, claim it was your fault, and pursue legal action against you. And by then, it may be too late. If you tell the truth now, I can assist you."
Upon hearing this, Siena blurted out, "That can't be; she promised me she wouldn't cause any trouble for me."
"Young lady, you can't trust everyone these days. That's all I'll say,"
Lilah remarked as she retrieved a bug from her pocket, activated it, and held it discreetly in her hand.
Moving to the chair beside the girl, Lilah continued, "Take some time to consider it. You can reach out to me if you decide to talk."
With that, she placed her business card on the table. While the girl was momentarily distracted, Lilah discreetly slipped the bug into the pocket of her jacket before quietly departing.
Exiting the coffee shop, Lilah inserted the other bug into her ear and drove away.
Meanwhile, Siena watched Lilah leave, feeling a sense of unease settling in. A legal dispute could have serious consequences. She didn't have the financial means to cover any damages that might arise.
If things escalated, she could lose her job and face significant financial hardship.
As Siena contemplated her predicament, she hastily retrieved her phone and dialed a number. Once the call connected, she blurted out, “You promised me yesterday; is that promise still valid?"
Bexley's voice reassured her, "Yeah, the promise stands. Just stick to the plan I outlined, and you won't face any repercussions for the burn incident."
“If you go back on your word later, I'll expose the truth about how you got that burn and framed someone else," Siena warned. She couldn't afford to handle the consequences if this went sideways.
Bexley's expression tightened but she quickly reassured, “Don't worry, I always keep my word."
"Fine."
Meanwhile, Lilah, seated in her car, listened intently through her bug, capturing every word exchanged between Siena and Bexley.
