Sensing Lilah's uncertainty, Gerard spoke up, addressing Brenda. "Mom, I'll eat with Lilah tonight. We're having some spicy dishes."
Brenda was keen on persuading Lilah to stay. Seeing that, Richard chimed in, his tone gentle yet insistent, “Lilah, you and Gerard can have spicy food on another day. It's not every day you're here with us. Besides, Effie, that free-spirited girl, won't be back soon. Come join us for dinner."
Left with little choice, Lilah conceded with a nod. "Alright."
Richard motioned to the butler. "Tell the chef to get cooking."
"Right away, sir," the butler replied promptly.
After half an hour, the table was set with an array of dishes, and they all gathered around it.
Brenda encouraged Lilah, "Give the dishes a taste, Lilah. They're really delicious."
"Sure thing." Lilah agreed with a nod.
Gerard filled Lilah's plate with her favorite dishes and whispered, "ALL your favorites."
Lilah met his gaze and smiled gratefully.
In a sudden realization, Gerard's eyes widened as he turned to Richard. “Dad, it's time we let go of Bexley from the company.”
He couldn't stomach keeping such a malicious individual around any longer.
After a brief pause, Richard nodded in agreement. "You're right. I'll talk to my friend about it."
"Okay."
After dinner, Lilah and Gerard stood up and got ready to leave.
Accompanied by Brenda and Richard, they reached the gate where farewells were exchanged. “Take care on your way back," Brenda urged gently.
“sure, I will," Gerard assured.
Lilah offered a warm smile. "You can head back now."
"Alright," Brenda responded with a nod.
With that, the two drove off from the old mansion.
They headed back to their new home.
After she had a refreshing shower, Lilah's mind sparked with a sudden idea, prompting her to dial Effie's number.
“Effie, are you busy right now?"
From the other end of the line came the sound of commotion.
