"You can wait for me and we can cook together." It was so lucky to have a man who could understand her so well.
He continued, “If you don't want to have dinner at home, tell me beforehand and I'll book a table for whatever you want to eat."
“Okay. She couldn't stop smiling."
Sometimes, happiness couldn't be manifested in words, but could only be felt in the little details of life.
That was the type of happiness she felt now.
She and Gerard didn't have a lot of sweet moments when they were together. They mostly enjoyed the quiet atmosphere.
However, it was in those quiet moments that they were truly together and connected.
"Lilah, I'll go ahead with my work," Gerard suddenly said.
Lilah replied, "Sure, go on with your work. Remember what I said, okay?"
"Okay." His voice was deep and attractive.
After hanging up, Lilah glanced up and found Jerrold lying and sleeping innocently on the sofa. She smiled and walked over. Then, she carried him gently in her arms and walked into the lounge.
She laid the little child on the bed, and after placing a kiss on his head, turned around and left the room.
Lilah went back to her chair, diving into her work.
Meanwhile, a woman in a black mask approached the prison.
She strutted up to the two guards and demanded, "Bring me Adaline."
One of the guards shot her a frosty look, saying sharply, "Do you even know where you are... Ah!"
Crack!
Before the guard could finish, both guards' wrists snapped.
The woman's fists darted, striking the guards’ necks.
Suddenly dizzy, they toppled over.
She navigated the passage, finding Adaline's cell door.
With ease, she swung it open, eyeing the sleeping figure. Snatching Adaline's clothes, she pulled her along.
Adaline lifted her head, fear etched on her face. “Who are you? What do you want?"
“Someone's waiting for you," was all the woman said as she dragged her onward.
