"Hurst Foster," the man said with no expression on his face.
"My name is Jazlyn Lee, ma'am," the woman said with a smile.
"Okay." Lilah nodded. "Are you riding with me?"
“No need, ma'am," Jazlyn said. “Hurst and I have our own car. We'll just follow behind you."
"Okay then."
After making sure that everything was clear, Lilah got into her car and drove off.
As she drove, she glanced in the rearview mirror and saw a black car following her closely. Clearly, that was Jazlyn and Hurst's car.
The next two weeks were uneventful.
But this only made Lilah even more restless.
By evening, the horizon was lit up by a beautiful red sunset.
Effie, with her bag slung over her shoulder, walked out of the hall after a day of filming. But just as she stepped out of the studio's gates, her phone began to ring.
Effie frowned when she saw the caller ID. Nevertheless, she answered it. "I just got off work. I'm about to grab some dinner," she said into the phone.
Walter was the person on the other end, and he was in his car, driving. “Effie, were you lying when you said you'd call me?" he asked curiously.
“I simply forgot," Effie told him. It was something that had since slipped from her mind.
“How about I pick you up so we can go have dinner together? What would you like to have?" Walter asked.
Effie hadn't thought about what she would like to eat. So when she heard his offer, she replied, "No need to pick me up. I'll send you the address of the restaurant later. Just go over there."
Then she hung up. After thinking for a moment, she finally made her choice and sent him the address.
It had been a long time since she ate spaghetti. Since she had gotten off work early today, this was the perfect chance.
She quickly took a cab to an Italian restaurant that was not far from her home.
Half an hour later, Walter walked into the restaurant, and almost immediately, he spotted Effie on the phone. Going over to her table, he pulled up a chair and sat down.
“I've placed my order. You place yours," Effie said to him.
Walter did just that. Then he turned to Effie and asked her, "Can we now talk about what's bothering you?"
Effie's expression turned dark when he said this. "Walter," she said in a serious tone, "have you really quit all those messy relationships of yours?"
Just the thought of it made her skin crawl.
