The teacher watched the kids' competitive spirit and cheerfully announced, "Alright, then let's start our game. I've inflated the balloons over there. Each family will choose two members to tie the balloons to their ankles."
She then gestured toward two large trees ahead. A red rope was stretched between them. “The family that crosses the red line first wins. Let's get going. At the teacher's signal, all the adults started attaching the balloons to their legs."
Lilah looked at Jerrold and whispered, "Jerrold, take it easy."
"Got it, Mommy," Jerrold replied with a smile.
Lilah was pleased to see Jerrold relaxed. She knew staying calm was important.
Jenna laughed mockingly at Lilah's words. "Indeed, take it easy. Your coordination isn't that great and you won't win the prize anyway. Ha-ha!"
She then turned to Vera and said, "Vera, we need to speed up. The first place must be ours."
Filled with determination, Vera nodded firmly, "Mom, I'm going to win first place."
“Of course, you're my daughter. I'm not Like those who don't know the first thing about raising kids."
“Kids just need to be happy when they're young. If you put too much pressure on them, they'll feel stressed as they grow up. One failure could really get them down and mess with their mind. Are you good at teaching kids?" Lilah retorted.
"You..." Jenna's face flushed with rage, and her eyes grew wide with fury.
"Mom, I've tied it up," Jerrold said.
With a smile, Lilah responded, "Alright."
Then she and Jerrold, with their balloon secured, started to walk forward.
As Lilah and Jerrold moved ahead, Jenna's eyes filled with even more hatred.
What a bitch!
She believed that if Gerard hadn't been protecting Lilah, it wouldn't have been difficult for her to deal with her.
And that brat, Jerrold! His stuttering was obvious. How could he ever compete with Vera for the inheritance?
Vera, noticing their delay, pulled at Jenna's sleeve and reminded her, “Mom, Jerrold is getting ahead."
"Come on. Don't worry about it," Jenna said calmly, believing that Lilah and Jerrold posed no threat to their victory.
The teacher overseeing the game noticed the competitive spirit among the families and cheered them on, “Hurry, or the victory will belong to someone else."
Motivated by her words, the kids put in extra effort.
Due to their nervousness, a few balloons popped because of their great strength, falling to the ground.
Lilah, holding Jerrold's hand, maintained a steady pace and managed their strength carefully, allowing them to overtake other families.
