The woman hurriedly said, "I guessed right. Walter, going there will only bring you trouble; you'll even be in danger. Are you doing this to avoid me?"
She had loved Walter for several years. But Walter hadn't reciprocated her love.
Walter's heart belonged solely to Effie. She couldn't figure out what made Effie so special that Walter would sacrifice so much for her.
Maybe even his life.
"No," Walter answered. He drove with a blank expression on his face.
Upon hearing his response, the woman felt a deep sense of sadness.
It was evident that Effie held the sole place in his heart.
She forced a bitter smile and said, "It seems it's Effie, who occupies your heart. Do you think she's worth all this effort?"
"It's none of your business. I'm ending this call," Walter said coldly.
Then he ended the call.
He picked up a big bunch of roses on his way and headed straight to the filming site.
Upon arrival, he tried calling Effie, but got no answer.
Walter was left with no other option but to go inside with the flowers. Right when he walked into the lobby, he noticed a man next to Effie, chatting and laughing with her.
They seemed to be enjoying each other's company.
Suddenly, Walter felt his heart drop. He stopped and remembered the bad memories they shared. With a bitter smile, he turned away.
Just then, a woman walked in from outside. As soon as she saw him, she instantly remembered him as the one who had visited Effie before.
She asked, "Are you here to see Effie? I can go get her for you."
"No, thanks." Walter, feeling frustrated, handed the flowers to the woman and said, "Please give these to Effie. Let her know I have something urgent to attend to and must leave."
Walter left the filming site without waiting for a response.
Once through the gate, his phone lit up with an incoming call.
Seeing who it was, Walter didn't waste a second before picking up.
The voice on the other end was stern. "Where are you? Get back to the family."
Without beating around the bush, Walter got to the point. “I'm headed overseas to sort things out."
The man sounded taken aback. "Really? You're up for that?"
