Effie, hearing the director's praise, responded cheerfully, “Got it."
"Alright," the director said, turning to the crew. “Let's prepare for the final shot..."
Before he could finish, a tall, well-dressed woman entered the hall and interrupted, "I apologize for the intrusion. I'm looking for Effie Harris. Is she here?"
The director glanced at Effie and said, “Effie, she is looking for you. Hurry back, we still need to shoot one more scene."
Effie nodded and examined the newcomer. The woman was tall and elegantly dressed, but Effie had no recollection of her. She was puzzled by her presence.
Why did she come to her?
She walked toward the woman and asked in confusion, "Do we know each other?"
The woman shook her head and said, "No."
“If we don't know each other, why are you looking for me?" Effie's confusion deepened.
The woman explained, “Though we're strangers, you're surely familiar with Walter."
If she could convince Walter, she wouldn't be here to seek Effie's help.
Effie didn't stand out in any way, nor did she have a great figure.
What on earth did Walter see in her?
"Are you here because of him?" Effie frowned and asked, "Why didn't he come himself? Is he too ashamed to face me?"'
Effie glanced at the woman and thought her voice sounded vaguely familiar, as if they had met before.
The woman's expression shifted subtly. "Is that really what you think of him? How ridiculous. He cares deeply about you, yet you doubt him constantly. I shouldn't have come here."
As she said this, she looked disrespectful and seemed to feel sympathy for Walter.
Just as the woman was about to leave, Effie caught onto something she said. Anxiously, Effie stopped her and asked, "What happened to Walter? Why hasn't he come to see me himself? What's happened?"
The woman paused, her back still turned to Effie. "He might be at the airport now. It's not too late for you to find him. After all, you're the only one he holds in his heart, and only you can convince him to return."
Effie asked in a hurry, “Why are you here then? And where is he going?"
The woman explained, "He's going to handle a difficult task abroad. I don't want anything bad to happen to him. If he leaves for abroad this time, there's a slim chance he'll return."
"Can I trust you? What is your relationship with Walter?" Effie asked further.
The woman smiled and revealed her history with Walter. "I don't know if you saw me approaching him a few days ago. I tried to express my feelings for him, but when I went to embrace him, he pushed me away, saying he loved only you."
The woman's words instantly dragged Effie's memory back to the moment she caught sight of another woman with Walter.
Now, everything clicked for her.
She realized she had misunderstood him.
