By noon, they were all at the airport, boarding a plane to head back.

As the clock struck past five in the afternoon, Lilah wrapped up her tasks for the day. While getting some water, the phone rang out of the blue.

When she saw Gerard's name flashing on the screen, a smile crept across her face. "Hey there, Gerard!"

“Lilah, I'm almost touching down at the airport. Any chance you could swing by and pick me up?" Gerard's deep voice came through the phone.

Pleasantly surprised, Lilah exclaimed, "You're back already? Are all your ducks in a row on the business front?"

“Yes, all squared away," Gerard replied.

"I'll be on my way in a jiffy," Lilah said, grabbing her coat from the sofa.

Then, she went downstairs and sped off in her car.

It didn't take long for Lilah to reach the airport.

Patiently waiting in the bustling terminal, Lilah's eyes lit up ten minutes later when she saw Gerard, dressed impeccably in a dark suit, approaching her.

Even after days apart, Gerard's presence remained strikingly handsome, radiating a quiet strength and unwavering stability.

Lost in her thoughts, Lilah's reverie was interrupted by Gerard's voice calling out, "Lilah!"

A gentle smile curved her lips as she walked toward him.

Just as she was about to reach Gerard, Karol emerged from the exit, her face contorted with anger at the sight of Lilah. She stormed toward Lilah, disregarding everything else, and spewed venom. “Lilah, you shameless bitch! How dare you scheme against me!"

Without missing a beat, Karol raised her hand, ready to hit Lilah.

Lilah deftly evaded the attack with graceful agility and swiftly got hold of Karol's wrist. Her voice turned cold as she retorted, “If you've lost your mind, seek help. Don't go around attacking people for no reason!"

"What? By what audacious decree do you dare affront my dignity?"

Karol seethed with fury.

Unfazed, Lilah stood her ground and replied, “I'm just giving you a fair warning. But if you continue with this irrational behavior, it won't end well for you."

Karol's expression shifted, her voice growing louder. "You dare claim that it wasn't you who sent that man? You conniving wretch!"

Utterly baffled, Lilah couldn't make sense of Karol's accusations.

"I don't understand what you're talking about."

What was Karol even talking about? Who was "that man"?

Lilah was completely in the dark.
