Just then, a nurse entered. Lilah asked, "Excuse me, do you know how long it might take him to wake up?"
The nurse appeared unsure and responded, "I can't say for certain. Given the nature of his injury, it could be a day or so."
The incident with the flowerpot was dangerously close to being fatal.
Trent was merely in a coma, which was relatively less severe.
Aware of this, Lilah asked further, "Will there be any long-term effects after he wakes up?"
“Well, it's hard to say right now. You can proceed with paying the hospital bills first," the nurse replied, unable to provide definite answers.
“Okay, I'll go and handle the payment now," Lilah responded.
“Alright.”
After administering an injection to Trent, the nurse left the room.
Lilah followed her out, walking down a lengthy corridor to settle the hospital bill. When she returned to the ward, her phone rang with a call from Gerard. She picked up and said, "Hi, Gerard."
“Where are you? I'm already in the hospital lobby." Gerard's resonant voice came through the phone.
Glancing at Trent, who was still unconscious, Lilah replied, "I'm on the 5th floor. Come on up. I'll meet you at the elevator."
“Okay.”
A few moments later, Lilah's phone buzzed with a call from Gerard again. “I've made it out of the elevator," he announced.
With a graceful stride, Lilah headed toward the door, catching sight of Gerard by the elevator. “Over here," she called, drawing his attention.
Gerard turned toward her, their eyes locking in a moment of connection, and a smile tugged at Gerard's lips as he made his way over to Lilah's side.
Reaching her, Gerard inquired, "Is the business partner inside?"
Lilah nodded affirmatively. "Yes! Let's head in."
With synchronized steps, they entered the ward. Gerard's gaze fell upon the figure lying in the bed, and a hint of surprise flickered across his features.
Trent was so young?
He had anticipated Trent being considerably older, his youth catching him off guard.
Turning to Lilah, he asked, "Any word from the doctor on when Trent might regain consciousness?"
Lilah shook her head. "Not yet, they're uncertain."
“Perhaps we should consider consulting a specialist to expedite his recovery," Gerard suggested, concern evident in his voice. If Trent remained unconscious, Lilah would have to shoulder the responsibility of his care until he awoke.
