Not to mention Trent was young...
“If there's no change by day's end, we'll seek another doctor's opinion." Lilah resolved, recalling the nurse's uncertainty earlier.
"Agreed." Gerard nodded in acknowledgment.
Engrossed in their work discussion, Gerard suddenly remembered something important. "Lilah, would you mind waiting here for a moment?"
“Of course not," she replied, her demeanor poised and patient.
Stepping out into the corridor, Gerard sought assistance from someone.
"Could you lend me a hand with something, please?"
“Certainly,” came the obliging reply.
After arranging everything, Gerard turned back into the room.
Catching sight of him, Lilah inquired, “Have you managed to sort everything out?"
Gerard nodded gracefully, replying, "Certainly."
As they conversed, a cough interrupted from the bed where Trent lay.
Lilah, attuned to the sound, immediately inquired, "Mr. Barton, are you feeling alright?"
With concern etched in her face, she pressed the bedside bell, summoning the doctor.
At the sound of Lilah's voice, Trent stirred, his eyes fluttering open as he continued to cough.
Minutes later, the doctor arrived, conducting a thorough examination of Trent. Turning to Lilah, he queried, “Are you his family?"
"No, we're friends, Lilah responded, her worry evident. “How is he faring?"
The doctor offered reassurance, saying, "Now that he has woken up, there shouldn't be any significant issues. However, to prevent complications, he should remain in the hospital for a few more days. We'll remove the stitches in seven days."
“Thank you so much!" Lilah expressed her gratitude sincerely.
“It's no trouble at all," the doctor replied, smiling warmly.
As Trent regained his ability to speak, he turned to Lilah with gratitude, saying, "Thank you for getting me to the hospital."
"I should be the one thanking you. If it weren't for you saving me, I might be the one lying in this hospital bed," Lilah replied gratefully.
Trent chuckled softly but winced as pain shot through his wound with a slight movement. "Ouch!" he exclaimed.
"Careful!" Lilah advised gently.
