He had failed again! That lucky bitch kept slipping through his fingers.
Still frowning, he ordered the assistant on the other end of the line, "Get rid of all the evidence."
"Don't worry, Mr. Phillips," said the assistant. "I've taken care of everything. We won't be found out."
"I hope so. If you mess up this time, I won't give you another chance," Lance warned.
In a cold sweat, the assistant answered, “Yes, sir."
“Go on then."
After hanging up, he held the phone in a tight fist, clenching his teeth with hatred. What a bitch!
As soon as Lilah and Gerard walked out of the ward, Gerard suddenly received a call. A few seconds into the call and he was frowning.
"Okay, I'll be right back," he said into the phone.
Seeing the sullen look on his face, Lilah said, "You don't look good. What happened?"
“Something happened at the company. I need to go back."
Lilah nodded. She understood he was busy. “Okay, you should go then."
"I'll be back as soon as I finish with work, okay?" He was about to turn around when he thought of something and said in a low voice, "Stay away from Trent."
"I will," Lilah replied, finding it both funny and ridiculous.
“Let me see you out." After all, she was going to the lobby as well.
They took the elevator downstairs. As soon as they walked out of the elevator, Lilah saw Absolon walking toward her.
When Absolon saw her too, his eyes narrowed in shock. He stared at her from head to toe.
She and Joselyn looked so alike.
Absolon's assistant was just as shocked when he saw Lilah. The assistant glanced at his boss and blurted out, "Mr. Morris.."
"Quiet!" Absolon cut him off and walked toward Lilah with a smile.
“Why are you in the hospital?"
“My partner was injured. I'm taking care of him," Lilah answered with a smile.
“I see," said Absolon.
Gerard suddenly said, “Mr. Morris, I didn't expect to see you here.”
