When Onyx reached the hospital, his heart felt heavy.
Gerard had shown restraint this time, but his usual methods could have caused unimaginable consequences.
Onyx approached Tess and Marlene and asked softly, “What did the doctors say?"
Tears streamed down Tess's cheeks. "We got here just in time. Any later, and..." She couldn't finish, but Onyx understood her.
He pondered Tess's indulgence and scolded, “If you hadn't spoiled him, this might not have happened."
“Now isn't the time for that! Find out who did this to my son. I won't let them get away with it," Tess demanded.
Marlene added, "Dad, Mom, whoever did this has no respect for the Dillon Group."
"That's enough from both of you. We're not discussing this here,"
Onyx snapped.
Tess looked bewildered. “Why? Our son got hurt, and we're just going to let it slide?"
Marlene was equally confused. "Dad, why? Are they more powerful than our Dillon Group?"
Onyx's voice was steady as he spoke. “This is Gerard's doing. Marlene, you need to stay here and take care of your brother for the next few days. Once he's better, we'll deal with the rest."
Tess and Marlene trusted his judgment when they heard Gerard's name.
They were puzzled, though, about how Lance had offended Gerard.
“Okay, Marlene murmured in agreement."
“Why would Gerard suddenly go after our son?" Tess inquired.
"We need to wait for Lance to wake up to learn more. For now, we should leave this alone. I need to return to the office," Onyx explained, and then left the room.
As he walked down the hallway, his phone rang. His assistant was on the line. "It was Gerard's people," the voice confirmed.
"Alright," Onyx replied shortly. He then hung up and left the hospital.
Meanwhile, Lilah walked into Trent's room with a basket full of fruits. She saw Trent sitting up, looking much better.
“How's your head, Mr. Barton?" she inquired, placing the basket down.
Trent smiled warmly. “Much better. The doctor says I can go home tomorrow."
“That's great news. The last few days must have been tough," she expressed, visibly relieved.
"You seem awfully worried about me?" Trent quipped with a smirk.
