When Lilah came back into the room, she announced, "I've taken care of the medical bill. I'm about to leave."
"Alright," Trent replied with a nod.
Before exiting, she inquired, "Your assistant hasn't shown up yet?"
“He's probably caught up in something else at the moment," Trent speculated.
"Alright then."
If Trent's assistant failed to appear, she'd have to find someone else to look after him.
As she left the hospital, Lilah gazed up at the night sky, her thoughts drifting to Gerard and what he might be doing at that moment.
She dialed his number.
The call connected after just one ring.
“Lilah," Gerard greeted her, his voice deep and melodious, its magnetic tone softly caressing her ear.
“Gerard, are you still at work?" Lilah asked, a slight smile playing on her Lips.
"I'm ready to leave work. Are you done working for the day?" Gerard inquired.
Lilah chuckled softly and replied, "I've handed everything over to Emma at the office. I'm leaving the hospital now and I'll be in your company soon."
"Great."
She ended the call and quickly parked her car outside the Harris Group building.
Lilah stepped out, went through the lobby, and took the elevator to Gerard's office on the top floor.
Upon arriving, she knocked gently.
"Come in," Gerard's resonant voice called from inside.
When Lilah opened the door, she found Gerard absorbed in his sketches.
As he started to get up, she reassured him softly, "Don't stop on my account. I'll just take a seat on the couch and wait."
“Alright, just a minute," Gerard said, giving her a quick glance.
“Take your time." She settled onto the sofa, intending to catch up on some reading, but fatigue coupled with the sofa's comfort quickly drifted her to sleep.
Gerard occasionally glanced over at her. Noticing Lilah asleep, phone still in hand, he smiled and walked over.
Approaching her, he admired how serenely she slept, curled up snugly.
