“It's nothing," she finally muttered.

Lilah felt there was something bothering Brenda, but before she could probe further, a voice called from the doorway, “Uncle, Aunt."

"Ah, please have a seat," Richard invited warmly.

Felipe nodded and made his way to the other side of the table with Jenna, as Vera greeted everyone before taking her seat beside Jenna.

With everyone settled, Richard addressed the gathering. "I've called you here not just to celebrate Jerrold's success today, but also to make another significant announcement."

Jenna quickly interjected, “What is it?"

Richard announced, “Starting today, I intend to officially prepare Jerrold to be the heir of the Harris family."

Gerard immediately expressed his concern. “Dad, Jerrold is still very young. We shouldn't rush him into this responsibility."

Richard reassured him, "I'm still here, and I'll take the time I have left to train him properly. Don't worry about it."

Gerard fell silent, absorbing the weight of his father's words.

Lilah understood the gravity of Jerrold's birthright within the Harris family; his destiny as the heir was sealed from the start.

It was a mantle he was born to bear, and she had no intentions of interfering.

Displeasure was etched across Jenna's face as she realized the old man's commitment to this decision.

Her fury was palpable. Her own daughter, Vera, was highly capable and in Jenna's eyes, a far superior choice to lead the Harris family.

However, they belonged to a less influential branch of the family, making any claim to the inheritance feel like a taboo.

If the heir had been competent, Jenna might have kept her objections to herself. But the idea of this boy at the helm was intolerable.

She couldn't help but argue, "I think you need to reconsider this."

Felipe glanced at her, perplexed. “What are you trying to say? Please, take a seat."

Richard faced Jenna, his brows furrowed in disapproval. “Is there a problem with my decision?"

Trapped by his stern look, Jenna conceded with hesitation, “No, no problems here."

"Good, that settles it then. Let's get some food," Richard declared.

Jenna stood up, a frown etched across her face, and turned to Richard. "I need to use the restroom."

"Okay."

Aware of Jenna's usual criticisms of Jerrold, Lilah remained on high alert.
