“Just be cautious; too much could be harsh on your stomach," Jenna warned, unable to deceive anyone under their watchful eyes. Vera drank the milk smoothly.

Seeking affirmation, Jenna looked toward Lilah. "Does this earn your trust?"

Lilah saw that Vera had no negative effects from the milk yet she remained cautious. “Perhaps I'm just being overly cautious."

With everyone more relaxed, Richard announced that it was time for dinner. Jenna couldn't stop herself from glancing at Vera throughout the meal, anxious over any possible ill effects.

Dinner passed with a palpable sense of unease.

After dinner, as Felipe was getting ready to drive Jenna and Vera home, Vera abruptly fainted.

Witnessing her daughter's sudden distress, Jenna spiraled into panic and immediately drove her to the emergency room for treatment.

Minutes later, Jenna saw the doctor coming out of the emergency room.

She hurried over and asked, "Doctor, how is my daughter doing?"

The doctor answered, "You got her here just in time. You've saved her life, but there's something serious I need to tell you."

Shaken, Jenna demanded, “What happened to her?"

The doctor explained, "She's ingested a lot of poison. We've managed to save her life, but the poison has affected her brain. She might have long-term cognitive challenges."

Upon hearing this, Jenna staggered back, her face draining of color.

She clung to the doctor's arm, begging, “Isn't there anything you can do? Please, help my daughter."

The doctor slowly shook his head, signaling that they had done all they could.

Overwhelmed, Jenna was horrified at the possibility that her actions might have caused permanent harm to her daughter.

After leaving some final instructions, the doctor walked away.

Felipe, who had been watching Jenna's reactions, suspected something was wrong and confronted her, “Did you put poison in the milk you gave to Jerrold?"

Trapped, Jenna just nodded.

"What a fucking idiot! What were you thinking?" Felipe's voice was thick with anger.

This was the Jenna he knew all too well.

Tears filled Jenna's eyes as she replied, "I was just trying to protect our daughter. I thought if Jerrold was out of the picture, she could lead the Harris family."

She hadn't anticipated the fallout.

It was all Lilah's fault. Because of her, her daughter was suffering!
