Felipe, exasperated, countered, “You keep devising these risky plots. It's going to bring trouble on Vera. Just stop."
The following day at noon, Lilah was about to step into the lobby with a man when Marlene, concealed in the shadows, recognized him. It was Kaden.
“What a bitch! How dare she seduce my boyfriend!" Marlene seethed.
Unable to hold back her fury, Marlene started marching toward Lilah, determined to confront her.
Just then, as Marlene was about to act, she heard a woman's voice from behind calling out, "“Lilah, Lilah."
Marlene spun around and dashed off as soon as she noticed Laura approaching Lilah.
"I'm not letting this one go, Lilah," Marlene grumbled to herself.
Lilah turned around to see Laura nearing, her face lit up with a bright smile. Laura seemed more energetic than before.
As she approached Laura, Lilah asked, “Laura, what brings you here?"
“Just passing through," Laura answered. "Watch your back, Lilah. Marlene was lurking right behind you."
Lilah quickly glanced around before returning her gaze to Laura.
“Thanks for the heads-up."
“Don't sweat it; she bolted when I shouted your name," Laura remarked, slightly irked.
Lilah chuckled. "Guess I owe you one now."
"You bet. So, how will you repay me?" Laura teased, grinning mischievously.
"Work's crazy at the moment, but how about dinner later?" Lilah proposed.
"Perfect," Laura consented. “Sort out your tasks, and we'll reconnect later."
Lilah watched Laura depart before heading toward the elevator.
She had just settled into her office when her phone began to ring.
Putting her work on pause, she answered, "Hello?"
“Lilah." Gerard's low voice floated through the phone.
Lilah, wearing a smile, replied, "Hey Gerard, you aren't busy now?"
A muffled affirmation came from Gerard, followed by, "Did you remember the recent attack that caused Trent to be hospitalized?"
Perplexed for a brief second, Lilah responded, "Yes, what about it?"
