After listening intently, she hummed in the affirmative, ended the call, and sent her location.

Rosetta sneered, "Did Gerard say he'd pick you up later? Ha! He's not coming."

The affairs of a wealthy family like the Harris family were notoriously tangled; they wouldn't make enemies just to defend a woman.

Growing smug, Rosetta turned to Hodge with confidence. “Honey, we've got plenty of time. Let's see if Gerard shows up or not."

"Well, I'd also like to see if he will show up," Hodge said, smiling smugly. The Brooks family had business ties with the Harris Group, and even if Gerard did come, Hodge believed the young man wouldn't be swayed over this woman.

After a while, Rosetta checked her watch and realized that significant time had passed without any sign of Gerard. She looked at Lilah, her grin widening. "See? I told you Gerard wouldn't-—"

Before she could finish, the sound of an engine shutting off echoed outside the hall.

Hodge remained composed, but Rosetta's smile froze when she saw a figure step out of the car and walk in.

It was Gerard!

He really came!

Rosetta never imagined that this powerful man would come here for a woman.

Recalling her husband's assurance about their partnership with the Harris Group, she felt confident. A smile crept across her face as she believed that for the sake of their cooperation, Gerard wouldn't meddle in this.

Just as she mulled over it, Gerard pushed the door open and strode in.

Hodge stepped forward to greet him. "Mr. Harris—"

Before he could finish and reach out his hand, Gerard bypassed him and turned toward Lilah, seated nearby. "Lilah."

She stood and walked up to him with a smile. "I told you not to come."

Hodge stood frozen, his hand hanging awkwardly in the air.

Gerard met Lilah's gaze, his voice unwavering. “When you're in trouble, I hope the first person you think of is me."

She nodded gently, her eyes meeting his. "Okay."

Lilah sensed Gerard's deep affection for her.

He asked gently, "What happened?"

Before she could respond, Laura quickly interjected, “Lucas tried to harass Lilah and then hit me. Lilah defended me and put Lucas in the hospital. Now his mother wants to imprison Lilah for the rest of her life."

"Did she actually say that?" Gerard's face hardened.

Lilah nodded.
