Before Milly could finish her sentence, Tess' expression turned grim as something crossed her mind. She interrupted, "No, I'm not entirely confident yet. It's almost there. So, I need you to do me a favor."
Tess realized that the props guy posed a threat to the success of her plan.
"Oh? What favor?" Milly asked, flashing a smile.
Tess let out a sigh. "I took care of most of it but the props guy was still in the room when I checked. I'm worried he might spill the beans."
"So you want me to make sure he keeps quiet?" Milly's smile turned a bit sinister.
"Yeah, and take care of the cameras in the props room and the hallway," Tess replied. She didn't want any loose ends.
Milly was up for it. "No problem, I'll handle everything."
"Thanks," Tess said, grateful for the backup.
This job had to be done without any slip-ups. One wrong move and it could end badly for her.
Milly replied, "Don't mention it. You just focus on getting better."
When Milly hung up, Tess felt like she could finally relax a little.
Just then, Marlene walked in and noticed Tess sitting on the bed. "Mom, why are you up? You need to lie down and rest. Your health comes first," she said, worried.
Tess gave her a reassuring smile. “It's okay, honey. I'm just sitting for a while. I'll lie back down soon."
Then she asked, “Where's your dad?"
"He's taking care of business. He's going to make sure justice is served,"
Marlene said, pulling a blanket over Tess. "Mom, don't catch a cold."
"I'm alright," Tess replied, feeling a wave of warmth from Marlene's care.
“Lance said he'd swing by to see you this afternoon," Marlene mentioned.
Tess gave her a look. “There is no need for that. He's just recovered from his injuries. Why should he come here?"
Marlene shrugged. “He says he's worried about you and wants to see how you're doing."
"That kid..." Tess smiled, feeling a bit touched.
"Mom, I still can't believe Effie tried to hurt you like that. We can't just let it slide!" Marlene fumed, her eyes blazing with anger.
Tess brushed it off with a calm tone. “Let the cops handle it. They'll figure out what to do."
