Finally, after digging all the way to the bottom of the trash can, she found the prop box.

By then, Lilah was already a total mess.

She grabbed the blood-stained knife from inside and brought it back with her.

She passed the knife to a professional at the testing center for checking, and then went back to her office to wait for the results.

If there were fingerprints on it, this case would be a whole lot simpler.

Later that afternoon, Gerard called her. "Lilah."

Lilah answered softly, “You must've heard about Effie's matter, huh?"

"Yeah, I'm trying to wrap my head around it," Gerard muttered quietly.

Lilah assured him softly, “I've got this covered. You've been working so hard every day. Don't let other stuff throw you off, or your body won't hold up."

“Hey, are you worried about me?" Gerard's frown eased up a bit.

Lilah replied quickly, "Yeah, I am. So, just leave this to me. I've already got a few leads."

"Sure, just give me a shout if you need a hand," Gerard said quietly.

"Sure thing; we can talk about it when we're back home later," she replied, grinning.

"Okay," Gerard said with a soft smile.

After she hung up the phone, she kept waiting, but she still did not receive a call from the testing center when she got off work.

Left with no other option, Lilah dialed the testing center herself. "Hi, I'm calling to check if the results are available now?" Lilah asked.

The person on the other end replied, “Not yet, sorry."

“Wait, why? Is there an issue?" Lilah asked, feeling anxious.

The man replied nonchalantly, "The sample you sent has already been damaged and contaminated. As a result, the chances of finding anything useful are very low. You need to be prepared for that mentally."

“Alright, I understand. Please inform me once the results are ready," Lilah responded. Her eyes dimmed a bit in disappointment.

"Sure, I'll inform you once we have the results," the man responded in a robotic tone.

"Thanks," Lilah mumbled quietly.

Later in the evening, the official Twitter account of Flurry Entertainment posted a statement regarding the incident. It mentioned that during filming, one of their artists, Effie, had allegedly stabbed Tess, an artist from Splendor Entertainment. They made it clear they wouldn't pick sides and promised consequences for anyone stirring up trouble. They urged everyone to remain calm and avoid spreading rumors until the police sorted things out.

As soon as that post went up, Tess' fans and a bunch of other people started blasting it with criticism.
