"Well, what is it?" Absolon asked eagerly.

"I haven't read it yet," the assistant admitted, handing the report to Absolon. "I thought you might prefer to open it yourself, so..."

Absolon accepted the report, feeling a mix of anticipation and apprehension.

Holding the unopened envelope, it felt like he was holding the key to a mystery.

The anticipation over the result was palpable.

"Mr. Morris, regardless of the outcome, you've put in your best effort."

Indeed, Absolon left no stone unturned to look for Joselyn.

After so many years of looking for her, Lilah was the one who resembled her the most. If Lilah wasn't even their daughter, perhaps meeting the love of his life was not in the cards for him.

Despite the hopeless situation, he kept believing that God would bless him.

He took a deep breath and opened the report in front of him. Then, he began to read every word carefully. Before long, his fingers trembled in excitement.

"It's her! It's really her!"

On the test report, the results clearly showed that Lilah was his biological daughter.

Now that he finally got his daughter back, he wondered if he could also find Joselyn eventually.

At any rate, he was deeply overjoyed right now.

He then sat up from the bed, about to grab the intravenous needle to remove it from the back of his hand when his assistant hurried toward him to stop him.

"Mr. Morris, your health is of utmost importance. If your daughter is here, she certainly wouldn't want you to do anything that could harm you."

As a matter of fact, the assistant was subtly referring to Lilah. Right then, however, Karol happened to emerge from the door and gaily jumped into the conversation. "Of course, I won't let my dad do anything bad to himself, Even the most skilled doctors can't save him if he doesn't value his own health, right?"

She then happily set down the gifts she brought with her—all of which were expensive health supplements—and placed them on the bedside table. Once she finished, she sat next to Absolon and examined him carefully.

The truth was, Karol had once been in the medical field; it hadn't been long since she entered the industry, but she had already made some achievements and accomplished more than enough in such a short time that she was hailed as a genius.

After a while, she decided to change careers. Nonetheless, she could still examine Absolon's condition easily.

"You'll be discharged soon, Dad."

Karol had him lie back down, and then tucked him in neatly. Although they were father and daughter, they weren't related by blood, and there wasn't much familial warmth between them. 2

For the longest time, Absolon only had Joselyn in his mind. He couldn't pay much attention to Karol, so he had to make up to her with material things.

Because of this, he always thought that if he had a daughter with Joselyn, he should treat her like he did Karol-or even better than that.
