“Give me her phone number!" Lilah requested, ready to tackle the issue directly.
"We only have an email address," Janelle replied.
"This is so frustrating!" Lilah wanted to avoid too much hassle so she decided to contact Effie directly, hoping for some insights or perhaps a direct line to Strawberry Baby.
“Lilah, I'm recording a variety show today. I'll go onstage soon. May IT call you back?"
Effie's voice rushed through the phone, her words tumbling out hurriedly.
“Effie, do you know Strawberry Baby?"
"I can't believe someone would choose that name intentionally!" Effie snorted. She scoffed dismissively. "Do you want to talk to her? She's here too."
Lilah's mind reeled at the coincidence.
"What program are you shooting?" she asked, trying to piece together the situation.
"A variety show within our company. It's basically a launch pad for newcomers to gain popularity. Strawberry Baby is also here. I'm sending you the address now. Let's have dinner together later. Don't tell my brother," Effie said, wrapping up the call swiftly before sending over the location.
Janelle watched with wide eyes as Lilah prepared to leave.
She could sense the gravity of the moment-Lilah might be on her way to face the person stirring the pot behind the scenes.
"Just let the online chatter simmer for now. After the blogger issues a clarification, our main task will be to deal with any online trolls involved. Keep up the excellent work. I need to head out,”
Lilah instructed with a tone of determination before swiftly exiting the office.
Meanwhile, Gerard had just managed to navigate through the bustling crowd, looking around for Lilah. Realizing she was already gone, his frustration boiled over.
"Have you forgotten about me again?" he muttered under his breath, his voice tight with annoyance.
Lilah's response came through her phone, light and seemingly amused.
“How could I possibly forget? Effie specifically asked me not to tell you, or else I wouldn't have left you at the office. I've just arrived. Let's catch up later."
Upon reaching the variety show venue, which was conveniently located within her company's premises, Lilah was easily able to access the recording area.
As soon as Effie spotted her offstage, her face lit up with unmistakable excitement.
"Lilah!"
The director had barely yelled “cut" when Effie came bounding over.
She practically vibrated with the urge to sashay over to Lilah.
"You didn't bring my brother, did you?" she blurted out.
