"Isn't she from the Phillips family?" A mocking voice interrupted them from behind. Lilah turned around with a blank expression and saw two tall women in elegant dresses, their faces filled with disgust.

Their demeanor was quite similar to Karol's.

"Usually, you're seen following Gerard around. What's the matter? You think because you defeated Karol, you no longer need to follow your supporter?"

Lilah frowned. Were they here just to insult her?

With a cold gaze, Lilah said, “So, everyone knows I won. It seems Miss Morris is more generous than I thought. I almost believed she was as mean as she seemed during the perfume-making competition."

“What are you implying? Even if Karol is defeated by you, she remains a member of the prestigious Morris family. Who do you think you are? You're nothing but a wretch pleading for Gerard's affection and clemency!" one of the two women said with disdain.

Even Laura found it intolerable. She positioned herself protectively in front of Lilah and exclaimed, “Don't push her too far!"

“Laura, keep your distance from her. She disdains the impoverished and ingratiates herself with the wealthy. Aligning with her could result in your abandonment once she deems you unimportant," the other woman said.

Laura's fury caused her face to flush. "Lilah isn't like that at all!"

“Impressive, you managed to deceive Laura so effortlessly. We underestimated you, didn't we?" The two women laughed mockingly.

With a disdainful smile, Lilah retorted, “Did Karol put you up to this ridicule? Is she trying to exert her authority over me?"

“Don't flatter yourself. You're not worthy of it."

Their laughter echoed as if they had heard an absurd jest.

Lilah arched an eyebrow and regarded them with a casual air. She icily remarked, "If Karol is not behind this, does that make you her loyal dogs?"

“What do you mean?"

Lilah shrugged and chuckled. "She doesn't even need to speak. You can always tell what she is thinking. Clearly, my skill in raising a dog falls short compared to Karol's. However, I'd rather avoid getting vaccinated against rabies for now, so please keep your distance, alright?"

As Lilah finished speaking, she took Laura's hand and began to leave.

However, one of the women, enraged, raised her hand.

Who did Lilah think she was? How could she insult them so brazenly?

Noticing the raised hand, Lilah was about to turn around when she saw someone grasping the woman's hand. It was Gerard who had arrived.

"How the Morris family treats guests is astonishing. What do you intend to do to my fiancée in public?"

Instead of relaxing his hold, Gerard tightened his grip. The woman's face soon turned pale; she was rendered powerless. "Mr. Harris, I... I just wanted to greet her. I've admired her for a long time."

“That's not what you just said," Laura retorted sharply, and then continued on Lilah's behalf, "You claimed that Lilah despises the impoverished and ingratiates herself with the affluent."

"Lilah despises the impoverished and ingratiates herself with the wealthy?" Gerard mused, and then turned to Lilah. "Do you feel like currying favor with them?"
