Lilah smiled, "It's alright. I'll take him there. It's just a meal. No big deal."
The three parted ways, with Lilah and Jerrold heading to the Morris household.
Absolon finished work earlier than usual. Seeing the chubby, lovely boy, he couldn't help but smile brightly.
“Ahh, Jerrold, my dear grandson. Come to Grandpa!" He squatted down and opened his arms to Jerrold. He couldn't seem to wait to envelope him in a warm hug.
Absolon adored Jerrold. Looking at his sweet, joyful face, Absolon could imagine what Lilah looked like as a child.
"Hi, Grandpa!" Jerrold wrapped his arms tightly around Absolon's neck, flashing a two-toothed grin.
Absolon's eyes welled up with surprise. He squeezed Jerrold back, tears escaping unconsciously.
"Come on in, sweetie. I made a feast for you!"
Absolon beamed, suddenly feeling like a kid himself, and led Jerrold into the living room.
The table was already laden with kid-friendly delights: a beautiful fruit platter, an array of snacks, and fancy desserts.
Lilah followed them in. Jerrold squealed and raced for the table. He grabbed a lemon slice and popped it in his mouth, but his face scrunched up with sourness.
"Oh dear!" Absolon chuckled. "That's a bit sour. How about some juice instead?"
They spent the next while happily playing together.
Lilah sank onto the sofa, checking her phone for Briseis' message about the contestants.
One girl, Jodi Avila, caught her eye.
Jodi was the adopted daughter of someone related to the Morris family.
The name rang a bell, and Lilah decided to keep a closer eye on her.
"Jerrold, come here." Just then, Danna came downstairs with Karol's help.
The sight of Jerrold's cheerful energy brought a smile to the old lady's face.
Jerrold paused, glancing hesitantly at Lilah, as if seeking her approval.
This subtle movement caught Danna's attention.
“What's up, little man? Worried I'll give you a spanking?" she teased, her gaze flickering to Lilah with a hint of disapproval.
“Go say hello to your great-grandma," Lilah said with a smile.
After all, they were at the Morris villa with Absolon present.
