Jerrold's eyes instinctively darted to Lilah, seeking her silent approval. Her gentle gaze reassured him.

With a show of affection, Jerrold leaned in and took a bite of the shrimp.

The unfamiliar scent made him recoil.

When he was returning to his seat, he stumbled slightly and discreetly spat it out.

"I'm so sorry, Grandpa," he mumbled, mortified.

Absolon, finding his clumsiness endearing, chuckled and waved it off.

Despite the undercurrent of tension, everyone seemed to enjoy the meal, even Danna, who usually clashed with Lilah, appeared less guarded.

Afterward, Danna even spent time reading with Jerrold before Lilah took him for his bath.

“Stay here for a bit, honey. Mommy needs a shower," Lilah said, disappearing into the bathroom.

Jerrold contentedly played with his blocks in the room. Suddenly, an itch erupted on his arm. He lifted his sleeve to find angry red welts spreading across it.

Panic surged through him. "Mommy!" he cried out.

Lilah rushed out of the bathroom and saw Jerrold in distress, his arm raised to show her the angry rash.

"Mommy, it itches!" he exclaimed, his voice choked with fear. The rash had already begun to crawl up his neck and onto his face.

Lilah's heart hammered in her chest. Despite her precautions, a horrifying realization dawned on her—Jerrold had an allergic reaction.

No time to waste-she dialed for an ambulance, still clad in her bathrobe.

Jerrold's allergy was severe. Rashes covered his entire body, accompanied by a fever. In extreme cases, it could lead to anaphylactic shock.

"What's going on?" Absolon, hearing the commotion, rushed out and saw Lilah descending the stairs with Jerrold in her arms.

"What's wrong with Jerrold? Did he eat something bad?" he asked, his voice laden with concern.

"Dad, Jerrold can't have mangoes. Was there anything with mangoes in today's food?" Lilah asked urgently.

Absolon furrowed his brow. “Absolutely not. I specifically instructed the chefs several times."

“Right now, the hospital is our priority", Lilah declared, her voice laced with urgency.

Just then, Danna and Karol appeared, their faces etched with shock at the sight.

Moments later, the ambulance arrived. Lilah, after securing Jerrold inside, cast a chilling glance at Danna and Karol, leaving them speechless.

Danna frowned. "Why are you looking at us like that?" she demanded.
