Absolon called for the family doctor to inspect the day's ingredients, but no irregularities were found.

“Could the tampering have occurred just before serving? The plates were cleaned afterward, leaving no evidence," Lilah speculated.

Absolon looked annoyed. He let his bodyguard, an expert in interrogation, question the servants one by one.

"What the heck? Why so serious? It's just an allergy. He's not made of crystal; he can't be broken," Karol muttered, sitting on the sofa with her arms crossed.

Lilah heard every word she said.

"Karol Morris." Lilah turned to gaze at her unblinkingly. "I want you to swear you didn't hurt Jerrold."

Her intense gaze and commanding presence sent a chill down Karol's spine.

Caught off guard, Karol looked to Danna for help.

“What are you doing? Are you trying to extract a confession by torturing Karol? She said she didn't do it. What are you doing?"

Danna stood protectively in front of Karol.

Without flinching, Lilah continued to stare at Karol. “If you didn't do it, why don't you swear?"

“Okay! Karol stood up and sobbed, “Lilah, since you don't trust me, you'll think whatever I do is wrong. If you will believe me only after I swear, then I will."

She wiped away her tears and declared, "I did not feed Jerrold mango. If I am lying, I will die in a car crash upon leaving this house. Are you happy now?"

Karol had chosen her words wisely. The vow was vague.

Lilah was not satisfied.

Seeing her silence, Danna's anger grew. "What now? Still unhappy? Do you want her to die?"

"Lilah, did you misunderstand Karol?" Absolon asked gently. "Rest assured. I'll get to the bottom of this. Sit down."

His words reassured Lilah.

However, after two hours, no clues were found among the servants. No one had the motive to hurt Jerrold.

"Lilah, did you forget something? Did you give Jerrold anything else after entering the room?" Karol asked with a faint smile.

Ignoring her, Lilah lowered her head, deep in thought.

She swiftly reviewed everyone present, everything that occurred, and every word spoken after Jerrold entered the house.

It would be too obvious if it was directly put into the food. The culprit would be discovered quickly.

What if the source wasn't the food?
