Karol was bewildered.

"What exactly does he mean by that? Why does Dad look so upset?" she questioned inwardly.

“Have some rest, Karol. You need to recover." Danna sighed, stepping out of the Living room.

"Grandma, you don't trust me, do you? Wasn't I poisoned?" It clicked for Karol. Staring at Lilah on the sofa, she said sharply, "I see now.

You tricked me, Lilah. Made me think you'd drugged me, but you hadn't. You wanted to humiliate me and let Dad and Grandma down, Lilah just shrugged. "Why would I bother? I care about Dad. Grandma's not my biggest fan anyway."

Her words were blunt.

Even Danna was still there, not leaving.

Hearing this, Danna snorted in frustration and swiftly left the room.

“Dad, could you give us some space? I need to talk to her," Lilah said to Absolon.

Before long, the two women found themselves alone in the living room.

Lilah scanned the room, relieved to find no surveillance monitors.

"What's your intention, really? Lilah Phillips, stop beating around the bush!" Karol's animosity was evident, but it was also certain that she was defenseless now.

"Hand me the antidote," Lilah said blankly.

Karol was caught off guard, struggling to regain her composure.

Understanding dawned on Karol.

No wonder Lilah had orchestrated the whole charade. It was all for the antidote.

Lilah was poisoned! Karol crowed inwardly, barely stifling a burst of laughter.

This news was music to her ears, the best she'd heard in days.

“I figured you were drugged," Karol said, her voice laced with a hint of smugness. "You may have survived the first round, but the second one? Not so much. Soon, you'll find it even difficult to just sit and talk with me."

Karol's smile widened into a triumphant smirk, her eyes gleaming with mockery.

Finally, the tables had turned.

As long as Lilah perished, Karol knew her good days were just around the corner.

Lilah sighed, a flicker of confusion crossing her features. “You hate me that much you wish you could kill me? I always thought you were just a child vying for Dad's attention."

To her utter surprise, Karol was more cold-hearted than she had thought.
