Lilah was surprised.

She acknowledged her sharp tongue.

But before Absolon pointed it out, many had criticized her, openly or quietly, calling her rude and uneducated.

The only ones who appreciated her for it were Gerard and Absolon.

“Thanks, Dad," Lilah said sincerely.

“Why have Karol and my mom turned like this?" Absolon sighed.

"They're being unreasonable and always playing the victim."

Lilah stayed silent.

She didn't feel it was her place to judge, nor did she want to speak ill of others.

"Dad, as you can see, I can't get along with Grandma or Karol. If I'm not around, the conflicts will ease. How about this? We'll make time to have dinner together once a week. I'll avoid being home otherwise," Lilah proposed, softening her tone as much as possible as she discussed it with Absolon.

Absolon felt conflicted. After a long silence, he nodded reluctantly.

Leaving the study, Lilah headed back to her room and found Karol sitting on the couch with her legs crossed.

Lilah felt at a loss for words.

“What do you want? Say it!" Lilah glanced at Karol, not showing much interest.

Karol's body still showed wounds, with bruises on her face, making her look miserable.

Despite this, she remained adamant. Staring sharply at Lilah, Karol wished she could make her suffer.

“Hand over the USB drive," Karol said.

Lilah thought talking to her was pointless.

“I know a doctor who's good with mental health. Maybe I'll introduce you someday." Lilah gestured for Karol to leave.

“I'm not leaving until you give me the drive." Karol Lounged on the sofa, acting unashamed.

“Suit yourself." Lilah smirked, grabbing her coat to leave.

She had no plans to stay the night.

"Wait!" Karol suddenly stood, blocking her path. As if she had made a big decision, she continued, "Give me the USB. I'll stop causing problems. I'm serious."

She lifted her fingers, swearing to God.
