She pushed the thought aside, planning to hide and wait for Gerard.
Then, she heard a familiar shout again.
“Help! Help! I'm not the one you were looking for. Let me go!”
It was Karol.
Two men in black were dragging her toward a black car.
In that instant, everything made sense. Karol had set her up, leading the attackers to her.
Nonetheless, Karol would face a dark and threatening future in the clutches of those menacing individuals.
The divide between the classes was stark here-the wealthy elite exuded opulence and grace, while the less fortunate seemed trapped in a world of suffering and obscurity.
The attackers’ simmering resentment toward the upper class was palpable, promising only torment for those captured.
And Karol's beauty made her a prime target for potential horrors.
As Karol was forcefully led into the waiting vehicle, Lilah looked quite worried.
Karol was indeed petty, cunning, and always envious of others, but she was raised by Absolon as his daughter for over a decade.
The thought of her meeting a gruesome end weighed heavily on Lilah, knowing it would devastate Absolon.
Karol deserved to die. Yet Lilah wanted to protect Absolon from further grief.
So she braced herself, grabbed her pistol, and fired at the driver of the vehicle.
The driver's anguished cries echoed.
In a swift and decisive move, Lilah took control, overpowering two threatening figures in black. With practiced ease, she forced the car door open and removed the injured driver.
Every movement radiated determination as she readied herself to confront any remaining threats.
Inside the vehicle, a sinister figure eyed Karol with malicious intent, sending a shiver down her spine. She looked horrified.
If only she had foreseen this disaster, perhaps she would have remained hidden. She had wanted to take advantage of the situation to end Lilah's life. But as soon as she got out of the room, a bullet pierced her calf, causing her a great deal of pain. Then, two figures in black closed in, their malevolent gazes fixed on her.
No matter how much Karol screamed and struggled, the two men dragged her down, their smiles morphing into sinister smirks as they mentioned sharing her with other guys.
Blood trickled down her leg, draining her strength. Regret gnawed at her.
Had she not defied Lilah, maybe this wouldn't be happening.
She also blamed Kaden for leaving her alone in the hotel.
