“Stop the car!" she shouted again. But this time, she pulled out a pistol and aimed it at the back of the driver's head. "I'll count to three. If you don't stop, I'll..."
The driver didn't wait for her to finish the statement before bringing the car to a sharp halt.
What a horrible situation!
“Get out of the car," Lilah ordered him. Already, she had jumped down and run over to the driver's side. She quickly pulled him out and entered the driver's seat.
“Miss Phillips, if you go back now, you will surely get caught," he tried to explain to her.
But Lilah was so stubborn that he couldn't persuade her at all!
Even though her heart was pounding rapidly, she stepped on the gas and the car sped off. Before long, Lilah arrived at the place where Gerard had dropped off.
Not far away, she saw a large group of men in black surrounding a set of cars.
Gerard and his people were no more than ten in number, and they were no match for these men in black.
Lilah parked the car and grabbed a telescope from the passenger seat.
At this point, a blonde man had gotten down from his car and was walking toward Gerard.
Around him was a large group of heavily armed men dressed in black.
The mere sight of them was enough to frighten any coward to death.
Lilah guessed that perhaps Gerard had a means of escape, but she didn't dare bet on it.
If Darian got angry enough, he could wipe off Gerard and his bodyguards from existence with a wave of his hand.
Crazy people like Darian roamed around the world, not worried at all about anyone taking revenge on them.
Seeing him approach Gerard made Lilah's heart beat faster in apprehension. But all of a sudden, she remembered something.
Meanwhile, Gerard was seated quietly in his car, casually looking at the group of people approaching him as if he didn't take this scene seriously at all.
"Mr. Harris, long time no see," the blonde man said with a smile as he came to a halt a few steps away from Gerard's window.
“What? Do you want me to pay a fortune before allowing me to leave?"
Gerard asked him indifferently.
“Of course." The blonde man laughed.
The blonde man was none other than Darian Martel. He was in his 40s but maintained his appearance well enough to look a decade younger.
He carried himself with an air of distinction, especially in a tuxedo that seemed tailor-made for someone of his stature.
