But Gerard went on in an icy tone, “The day I arrived here, I visited Devin to discuss the Martel family's diamond business in Yuloria. He and I are on very good terms and he likes me."
Devin Martel was Darian's father, and he was the only man on Earth that Darian feared.
“What a shameless bastard you are!" Darian shouted in fury and pressed his pistol to Gerard's forehead, wishing he could kill Gerard immediately.
But he knew he couldn't. At least, not before capturing that woman.
"Stop!" a female voice suddenly called out.
Everyone turned in the direction the voice had come from.
Gerard's eyes widened when he saw Lilah. Why did she come back?
Darian also gaped at Lilah. At first sight, he thought she was Shelia.
How come both women resembled each other so much? This was very intriguing to him.
As for Lilah, she didn't understand everything that was going on in front of her, but what she could see was clear enough. She saw a pistol pointing at Gerard's forehead and many armed enemies surrounding him.
She didn't want to stand there and just watch this happen without doing anything.
"Oh, my lovely Shelia! You finally came to me," Darian declared.
Putting down his gun, he threw open his arms and strode toward Lilah.
"As you all have seen," he said to his men, "Gerard Harris took away my Shelia. There is no doubt about that anymore. I can now kill him."
Darian was excited. He was going to kill two birds with one stone.
Not only would he kill Gerard, but he would also take his woman.
“Darian Martel." A cold growl came from behind him. When he turned around, he saw that it was Gerard.
Gerard was looking at him with so much anger that his eyes seemed as if flames were burning in them. The only time Darian had seen such a look was on his father's face.
Whenever his father was angry, he would give him such a terrifying look. It was a clear sign that Darian would be cruelly punished in line with their family's rules.
Right now, this gaze from Gerard was sending chills down his back.
"If you dare to lay a finger on her, I'll make sure your whole family will die because of her," Gerard threatened, stressing each word to show that he meant what he was saying.
His anger had already reached the highest point and he was all but ready to burst.
For a moment, Darian was frightened, and he couldn't help but swallow.
His father had once warned him never to piss off a cornered man, because such a person would lose their mind which would bring destructive consequences to their oppressor.
