Maybe Hadley could learn from Lilah.
After all, she got nothing from being with Ruth.
"Lilah, I'm sorry about before. I misjudged you," Hadley said, her eyes sparkling as she moved closer with her bowl of noodles.
Lilah glared at her. "Stay away. You're spilling soup on me."
The next day, while the others discussed Taekwondo techniques and sparred lightly, Hadley focused on perfecting her horse stance.
She also incorporated jogging into her routine. That morning, she joined Lilah for several laps around the artificial beach, pushing herself to the brink of exhaustion.
Some participants grew even angrier with their actions, feeling sorry for Hadley, who they saw as a fragile girl. They couldn't believe how mean Lilah was being to her.
But Lilah didn't care about the judgment. She kept training Hadley hard.
Hadley worked on her leg strength during the day and relaxed with Lilah's help at night.
Almost every night, Hadley shrieked in pain, her screams echoing around the room.
One night, Ruth called Hadley outside.
“Why haven't you done what I asked?"
Ruth looked unhappy as she stared at Hadley.
Hadley, having just finished her leg relaxation, leaned against the wall. Tears began falling down her cheeks. "I'm not avoiding it. I've been suffering. I can't do it."
Her acting was very convincing.
Hearing that, Ruth inwardly called her "useless."
“I'll give you two days to hurt her legs or feet. If not, you'll regret it."
After Ruth left, Hadley wiped away her tears. Then she took out her phone. She stopped the recording on her phone and, after some thought, headed back to her room.
Lilah wasn't there when she looked for her.
At that moment, Lilah had climbed out over a wall behind the hotel to meet Gerard who was waiting there.
"How's it going? Are you finished with work?" Lilah asked as she embraced Gerard.
They had only managed to chat through video calls at night the last few days as they had been keeping busy during the day.
Gerard's eyes turned cold. "Yes. Remember to watch your back. Darian's on his way."
“yihat?"
