"We're going to the set," Gerard stated grimly as he opened the car door.
Calvin was puzzled. Were they going there to pick up Lilah for lunch?
"Mr. Harris, I've reserved a table at the restaurant closest to the set. Shall we invite Miss Phillips to join us for lunch?" Calvin ventured hopefully.
Gerard gave a curt nod and closed his eyes to rest.
Calvin breathed a sigh of relief.
His guess was correct-excellent!
“Hurry up," Gerard urged.
Realizing the urgency, Calvin stepped on the accelerator, and the car sped away.
They reached the filming location just as Hadley and Kieran were about to compete.
When the director noticed Gerard, he approached with a broad smile, only to be intercepted by Calvin. They found a quiet corner to sit and observed the ring from a distance.
After days of intensive training, Hadley felt her legs had grown stronger and more stable.
Standing in the ring, she clenched her fists, psyching herself up, yet her eyes involuntarily searched for her mentor, Lilah, who had become her pillar of strength.
Lilah glanced at her phone, oblivious to Hadley's silent plea for support.
The match didn't capture much interest from the audience; the size difference between the competitors suggested a predictable outcome.
Even Kieran, feeling uneasy, turned to the director and said, "Sir, is this really fair? How can I compete against a girl like this?"
Before the director could respond, Hadley shouted defiantly, “Who are you underestimating? I was trained by Lilah!"
Her bold declaration elicited laughter from the audience, yet she stood resolute and spirited.
Lilah, watching from the sidelines, chuckled and clapped, offering her encouragement.
Beaming at Lilah's support, Hadley pumped her fist in the air to psych herself up.
This moment caught the attention of Gerard, who observed the interaction from a distance.
His gaze sharpened as he watched Lilah, and the air around him grew noticeably tense.
"Well, don't cry if you lose," Kieran offered magnanimously. “How about I give you a head start? What do you think?"
Feeling patronized, Hadley retorted loudly, "No, I can beat you!"
Her declaration surprised the crowd, and laughter erupted around the venue. No one had expected such bravery from the petite girl.
