The message was clear: he didn't want Hadley coming along.

“I'll stand; it's no big deal," Hadley said hurriedly.

Lilah sighed, feeling a bit frustrated. "She needs a place to eat. We should all go together."

Gerard still looked annoyed but said nothing.

During the meal, Lilah couldn't shake the uneasy feeling.

Somehow, the atmosphere at the table felt strange. Gerard's displeasure was clear, but he didn't say anything when Lilah asked him about it.

Later, Lilah went to talk to Calvin.

"Miss Phillips, what's your relationship with Hadley?" Calvin whispered, leaning in close. "Mr. Harris might be jealous. He's worried someone else might take you away from him."

Lilah was surprised. What was going on?

“Lilah, am I too close to you? Will Mr. Harris be unhappy?" Hadley asked cautiously, holding onto Lilah's arm as they walked back.

A thought occurred to Lilah.

Hadley was playing innocent.

How could this be happening?

"Yes." Lilah nodded firmly. She then gently pushed Hadley away and took Gerard's arm.

"My boyfriend doesn't visit often. I need to spend time with him. Let Calvin take you back," Lilah said.

Gerard's expression softened as expected.

However, Hadley remained unsatisfied, her eyes welling up as if on the verge of tears.

"Calvin, come on!" Lilah snapped impatiently.

Once they left, Lilah and Gerard found themselves alone in the car.

Gerard draped his arm around her shoulder, preparing to speak, but Lilah cut in. "Don't be upset. She's just a child.”

"I'm not upset," he muttered, turning his head away.

Lilah chuckled softly, gently guiding his face back and planting a kiss on his lips.

Instantly, the chill in his demeanor melted away.

The afternoon recording session commenced shortly after.
