She had to remind herself to stay calm and not look worried. “That's nice," she scoffed at his words. "You can go ahead and kill them. Then Luna Island will become mine. All this while, those old men have refused to let me manage it. If they die, I'll be the only one in charge of Luna Island, taking over the worldwide assets owned by several influential families on the island. In that case..."

Darian's eyes narrowed as he listened, but he was not totally convinced. He gazed into her eyes, looking to find any sign that could show that she was lying.

Unfortunately, he didn't find any.

Before coming over, he had gotten an experienced hacker from Xylo's black market to investigate every detail about Lilah since the day she was born till date.

As a result, he found something unusual about her.

A few years ago, Matthew had dumped her. But he told the public that Lilah had been sent to study overseas. In actual fact, he had exiled her to a country and stopped supporting her.

But Lilah was rescued and it seemed as if she vanished for several years.

No one knew what she went through during that period. Even the hacker didn't find any information. The only thing Darian knew was that these old men were from an unknown island in Starvale. But he didn't know where it was located and what was on it.

Apparently, it was called Luna Island. But was it the island they were on?

Lilah's words reechoed in Darian's brain.

According to her, Luna Island contained several influential families with assets all over the world. It sounded too good to be true.

Darian found it difficult to believe her. Unfortunately, he couldn't find out whether or not she was telling the truth.

"What? You don't believe me? Lilah chuckled. Darian felt insulted by her tone, so he said, “Okay then. I'll kill them now... as you wish."

As Darian uttered his words, he slowly raised his pistol, the barrel trained on Devonte's forehead again.

Lilah stayed perfectly still, excitement shining in her eyes.

Darian's confusion deepened as he tried to decipher her intentions.

Lilah calmly dragged a nearby chair closer and with her arms crossed defiantly, took a seat as if she were watching a thrilling drama unfold.

Darian's gaze narrowed, his lips curling into a sneer.

"You think you're clever, don't you? You think I don't know what you're plotting. The law governs society here. The moment I pull this trigger, the police will swarm in. No matter how powerful I am, I can't escape the consequences. And you? You'll have all the time in the world to play the hero."

His voice dripped with icy contempt, sending shivers down the spines of most of those present.

Lilah raised her palms in a nonchalant gesture. “Suit yourself. I'm here to make a deal. What are your terms? Name them, and I'll see what I can do. If we can't reach an agreement, feel free to do as you please."

"You..."

Darian's scowl deepened.

"I want you on your knees, begging me to release them." His smile was chilling, his features contorting with savage delight.
