Her voice trailed off as she took in the man before her.

His arresting eyes met hers. "Who are you involved with?"

“How... why are you here?"

Confusion swirled within Lilah.

Gerard was Brenda's son?

The realization thundered in. Back in the lounge, she had acknowledged their strong relationship.

But it wasn't just strong. They were bound by blood. They were family!

"What's the matter?" Gerard inquired, concern evident in his voice.

"You knew all along, didn't you? You never told me!" Lilah accused, a mix of shock and indignation in her tone.

"You never asked," Gerard responded, his voice laced with a hint of resignation.

Lilah huffed in frustration. "I don't buy it. You intentionally hid it from me!"

“I'm sorry; it's my fault," he apologized, though his lips betrayed him with a trace of a smile. "Come, let's eat."

It was only then that Lilah's attention was drawn to the array of scrumptious snacks laid out on the coffee table. She had been too anxious to eat properly amidst the crowd, but this secluded nook offered a tranquil refuge for a peaceful meal.

“Your mom doesn't know we're acquainted, does she?" Lilah queried between bites.

“No, she doesn't," Gerard confirmed.

As she ate, her long hair cascaded forward, obstructing her view.

Just as she was about to sweep it back, a broad hand beat her to it, tenderly tucking her hair behind her ear. His eyes, dark and enigmatic, twinkled with playful intent, and she found herself ensnared by their depth.

Without warning, his striking face was mere inches from hers. Lilah's cheeks flushed a fiery red, and she instinctively shut her eyes.

Yet the anticipated kiss never landed. Instead, a gentle brush against her lips followed by his warm, resonant voice. “You had a little something there."

A flustered silence befell Lilah.

“Okay, she muttered, attempting nonchalance as she continued her meal, though her ears betrayed her with their crimson hue.

His laughter, melodious and soft, rang in her ears, heightening her embarrassment. She lifted her head to retort, "What's so funny..."

Her words were cut short by a sudden, sealing kiss.

Disbelief painted her features as she stared, wide-eyed.
