Sensing the gravity of the situation, the three old men discreetly escorted away those Lilah had identified.

"Miss Ruiz, our personal differences should have been settled privately. Resorting to such underhanded tactics of using those around me reflects poorly on you." Lilah's tone was measured yet firm as she locked eyes with Ruth, her gaze unwavering.

"Ridiculous!" Ruth retorted.

Ruth's face turned livid with rage. She scanned the crowd, her voice booming. "Don't believe her. She's just trying to change the subject. I didn't do any such things."

"Oh, really?" Lilah gracefully descended the stage, her gaze locked onto Ruth. "Please be patient, Miss Ruiz. I'll call the police right now and let them handle this Stunned by the threat, Ruth broke eye contact, her voice wavering slightly. "Go ahead then. I'm not afraid."

She was convinced Lilah wouldn't dare involve the police. The event was only scheduled for two hours; any delay on such trivial matters would rob them of precious time needed to promote their new perfume.

But if Lilah did make that call, Ruth was prepared.

Anyway, she wouldn't Lose anything.

Ruth felt that Lilah was stupid.

"Get Officer Phil Dury over here," Lilah commanded to one of the staff.

Minutes later, a police officer in full uniform entered with authority.

Phil was pre-arranged by Lilah to ensure order during the event, in case of any disturbances.

"Sir, my apologies for the inconvenience," Lilah began, her tone firm and resolute. "We suspect this woman of slandering our employee. Could you please look into it?"

The gravity of her request shocked everyone present.

No one expected to witness a farce when they came to the event.

Yet, the crowd seemed intrigued. After all, people have a penchant for drama.

"Do you have any evidence?" Ruth challenged, her confidence shaky.

"Should we just take your word for it because you say it's true? You overestimate your influence. With so many people here, why target me?"

Caught off guard by Lilah's bold move to call the police, Ruth was visibly flustered.

But she was resolute, determined not to yield unless the evidence was unmistakably presented to her.

After all, she was confident she had left no evidence.

"Who said I had no evidence?" Lilah retorted.

At that moment, the three old men returned with the group of instigators, their heads hung low in obvious panic as the dynamics of the situation shifted dramatically.

“Leniency if you confess, severity if you resist," Devonte announced, patting one of the men on the shoulder with a sinister smile.
