"I'll come with you", Gerard said with a smile, putting his arm around her shoulder.
"Sure," Lilah agreed, taking out her phone. She was about to call Hadley. Hadley had gone to record a TV show this morning and hadn't returned yet. Lilah didn't know if something had happened to her.
She had just taken out her phone when an email popped up.
It showed only a picture of Hadley tied up.
Once again, it was from Darian.
What an asshole!
Lilah was livid.
“What happened?" Gerard asked, noticing her pale face. He glanced at the picture on her phone screen, his expression turning grim.
"Damn him! How could he be so shameless? What the hell does he want?"
Lilah frowned. Her heart filled with deep worry.
Hadley had always been timid and naive. She had suffered so much bullying from Ruth in the past. Lately, she had been with Lilah and had finally started to move on from her past. But now, she had been kidnapped.
She was incredibly unlucky.
"Don't worry. We'll get her back," Gerard reassured Lilah as he gently stroked her shoulder. "We have to wait. He'll let us know his demands."
Sure enough, ten minutes later, Darian sent another message. “Miss Phillips, I'll be waiting for you at Starry Manor. Come alone."
Darian's message indicated that he was well-prepared. He was simply waiting for Lilah to walk into his trap.
Lilah scoffed. He expected her to go alone? How could he have the nerve to ask that?
She wasn't about to fall for it.
She promptly informed the elderly men about the situation.
“What's going on? How can that man be so heartless to not even spare a young lady? He's a monster!" Cyrus frowned. His anger was evident.
Devonte thumped his chest and stood up. "Let's go. The three of us will come with you. Though we're old, we've got enough strength between us. We're more than capable of teaching that jerk a lesson!"
Lilah gestured for everyone to calm down. “Certainly. I'll take you all with me, but we can't let the kidnapper spot any of you, okay?"
"Don't worry. We're masters of disguise. You'll see when the time comes. We'll catch that man off guard!"
Devonte grinned fiercely, exchanging a glance with Jerrold.
“Mommy, I want to help save Hadley too. She's been nice to me, buying me tasty cheese sticks and orange soda. I've Learned martial arts now, so I can handle bad guys," Jerrold pleaded, tugging at the hem of Lilah's clothes.
