Her voice was shattered and shaking like a beaten up and bullied child, making Lilah's heart wrench in pain and writhe with fury. She threw Darian away by his neck and ran to hug Hadley.

The others who just arrived were obviously shocked by what they saw.

Cyrus furrowed and asked, "Who did this to you?" His voice shook with a vengeful tone.

"Who the hell dared to hurt an innocent girl! I'll cut off his cock and feed it to the dogs!" Devonte growled as he stood at the center of the room.

Kyler, being the logical one, grabbed a man in black to interrogate.

The man was trembling upon hearing Devonte's growls. "Who's behind this?" Kyler asked.

But the man was too afraid to speak.

“Lilah, you go first," Gerard said in a low voice. “There are more people surrounding the place."

Despite his stumble today, Darian still wasn't one to be taken lightly. They just caught him because he underestimated them and became careless.

Moreover, they were in his territory. They wouldn't know how many of his henchmen were stacked around in the corner, waiting for them to let down their guard.

Lilah agreed with a nod, lifting Hadley off the floor and headed for the exit. And as soon as she stepped outside, screams filled the room inside. Someone was even thrown outside with a kick.

When Lilah and Cyrus got into the hospital, the doctor told them that Hadley's recovery would take some time. Scars might even be formed permanently.

Hearing the doctor's diagnosis, Lilah couldn't help but feel remorseful and distressed.

Hadley noticed it, so she gave Lilah a smile. "Don't worry, Lilah. If I can't play the angelic and sweet roles, I'm sure there are other characters I would be able to do. This is nothing."

Lilah remained silent, her gaze fixated on Hadley's bandaged face.

"But of course, if no one hires me anymore, I'll just have to follow you around and beg for food from you for the rest of my life!" she said, sticking out her tongue.

Lilah managed a reassuring smile. “Don't worry, I've got you. Once you're on the mend, maybe consider learning martial arts from the three elders? It's not only fantastic for your fitness but also a solid skill for self-defense."

Hadley's eyes lit up with excitement. "Lilah, you won't believe it! I actually kicked that jerk super hard. Just wish I had aimed a little better-hit him where it hurts most. He would've been in real agony then!"

Lilah's response was encouraging. "You did amazingly well," she commended. "With just a handful of moves under your belt, you're already showing such strength. Just imagine the force you'd be if you trained full-time. I might not stand a chance against you!"

Hadley laughed. "Then I'd be the one protecting you, Lilah."

Her laughter soon turned to tears as a sharp pain from her wound cut through the moment.

Gerard had finally cornered Darian.

The elusive rat had skulked in the shadows too long, and after relentless pursuit, they had him exactly where they wanted.

“Go ahead, kill me if you dare!" Darian taunted, thrashing in his chair like a wild animal trapped in a snare.
