Lilah remained quiet, just walking and guiding Xavier toward her own quarters.

Upon their arrival, Gerard appeared with a first aid kit to tend to Xavier.

"Who's this handsome fellow?" Xavier looked at him curiously.

"That's my boyfriend, Gerard, be polite," Lilah introduced them.

Xavier flashed a grin and said, “Hey, Gerard, nice to meet you. You're quite the looker.”

Lilah was still trying to process Xavier's earlier words, feeling a mix of shock and discomfort.

Had Barth really changed?

“Lilah, what brought you guys back all of a sudden?" Xavier asked, enjoying his meal happily. "Wow, this is delicious!"

"Just some business to handle," Lilah answered sharply. "Oh, and when you have a moment, I need you to take a team to the island and retrieve a couple of Winter Wood samples; make sure they're in good condition, okay?"

Considering it was autumn, they couldn't afford to wait until spring to begin the detoxification process. On their journey here, she and Gerard had planned a cultivation project, hoping it would enhance their chances of success.

“Are you upset with me or something? Are you trying to poison me? That tree is highly toxic!" Xavier turned pale.

“Wear the protective gear, and you'll be alright. Do this for me, and there's ten grand in it for you," Lilah quickly assured. “But remember, keep this quiet. We can't let this get out."

Xavier's attitude shifted immediately. "Understood. I'm always ready to help out."

Word of Lilah's return with the three elders spread rapidly throughout the island, drawing attention and gathering crowds wherever she went, like a celebrity in the spotlight.

However, she paid little attention to the bystanders and remained cautious of those who scrutinized her every move with a predatory stare.

"Lilah, have you considered our earlier discussion?" Cyrus asked firmly as she walked in.

The other two waited eagerly for her response.

Seating herself at the dining table, Lilah answered, "I need more time to think about it."

"You're being too stubborn. Can't you tell something's wrong? What if one day you're targeted, or someone manages to steal the league leader's token before you even notice the threat?" Devonte rose to his feet, his face clearly showing frustration.

Lilah's expression tightened, and she chose to remain silent.

She didn't wish to intensify the situation.

Deep down, she acknowledged she might be too forgiving.

“Let's allow her some time to reflect," Kyler said after a pause.

“However, Lilah, you must promise us not to give the token to Barth."
