Bartley knew he was in the wrong, so he remained silent.
Just then, the team brought Arya in.
Arya, in a calm and elegant state, was not worried about the ruckus going on. She looked at Barth, who was wearing an embarrassed expression, and asked in a cold tone, "What is all this about? They're holding me accountable for hurting someone I don't even know. Who is the supposed victim, if I may ask?"
Brought up in a prerogative world, her family's wealth and power, mixed with her boyfriend's materializing leadership, without doubt gave her a sense of superiority.
ALL of a sudden, the venue became dead quiet, and everyone turned to her direction and stared at her with rage filled in their eyes.
"You guys, say something," Cyrus said, finding it hard to contain his anger as he glared at the men dressed in black who were on their knees.
The leader of the group made a resolution to be completely honest as he lifted his head up to speak. "Miss Gomez, my phone shows the transfer of one million from your maid, and this poisoned needle was also gotten from you. Just confess."
Arya, filled with rage, walked up to him and gave him a resounding slap.
“How dare you point your fingers at me!" Arya quickly detected that tables were turning on her. She became careful as she spoke. "Come on! What reason could I possibly have for doing such a thing? I have no reason whatsoever to harm Miss Philips. I honestly do not care less who becomes the leader."
“Arya, it's high time you faced reality. Confessing to your crimes might actually lessen your punishment," Barth got up and said as he stared at his girlfriend, his voice filled with agony.
Arya squinted her eyes ferociously as she stared back at him. "What are you trying to say, Barth? You also believe that I did it too? Nowadays, everyone is quick to point fingers without solid evidence. If you of all people don't believe me, who will?"
Barth's face was blank, and for a brief moment, he was bewildered.
At the depth of his heart, he still didn't want to admit that Arya was capable of doing such things.
"Get out of the way, you fool!" Devonte replied swiftly as he stared at Barth. "See how easily swerved you were just by a woman's few words. I'm not surprised at how you couldn't stack up to Lilah!"
Barth brought his head down in shame. He was enraged, but couldn't voice out his frustration.
“I have proof," the leader of the men in black said sharply. “I've already given my word!"
Arya looked pale as she glanced at Bartley, sincerely praying for her father's intercession.
She had never expected the situation to go through the roof at this perilous point in time.
"Arya, please just confess to the crimes. I'll help lessen your punishment." Bartley took a deep breath.
With a lot of people present, and the man in black solemnly taking an oath, it was clear that Arya was at fault, and not even Bartley could prove her innocence.
Looking surprised and dubious, she looked at her father and asked in a pitiful voice, “What are you saying? Are you coercing me into confessing to something I didn't do?"
"Seeing all the evidence and eyewitnesses displayed against you, you are found guilty! Tie her up!" Cyrus yelled as he couldn't hold it in anymore.
Immediately, Bartley became flushed. "No, please!"
Xavier, gripping his rope tightly, glared at Arya with frustration.
