But before she could leave, something went wrong on Luna Island.
One of Cyrus' junior fellow apprentices challenged him to a duel.
“Why does that bastard always haunt you? He comes to you every three years, as if it's not enough that he always loses. Seriously, is he mentally ill or has he developed some kind of obsession with winning?"
Devonte growled, seething with indignation. After venting his anger, he advised Cyrus not to lower himself to the level of that stubborn fool.
Kyler was also of the opinion that Cyrus should ignore the man.
Cyrus didn't say anything for a long time. He just stared at the letter in his hand and stroked his beard.
Lilah was quite curious about it all and couldn't help but interject, "What sort of duel is this? If Cyrus’ health permits, then I think it would be quite enlightening for us all to witness it."
“There's nothing enlightening about it. He's nothing but a fool with a warped mind, lurking in a remote corner of the world. Every time he comes, he brings along some bizarre items. For instance, last time, he brought some medicine that could temporarily improve his strength and took a dose before he fought Cyrus, yet he still lost miserably! Ugh, just thinking of his antics makes me want to scream!" Devonte's voice was laced with disdain.
Lilah's curiosity had grown stronger than ever.
After spending considerable time with her mentors, she had never seen anything like this before.
"Take a look at this letter," Cyrus said, handing her a piece of paper. "See if you agree with it."
Lilah quickly read through the letter.
It stated that not only would the challenger be arriving, but he would also bring an exceptionally skilled student, trained secretly for over a decade. He hoped for his student to compete with Lilah in a friendly match.
Lilah raised her eyebrows. "I'm open to it. If the opponent is better than me, I'll see it as a chance to learn. But if they can't surpass me, it'll be my privilege to honor my mentors."
Her attitude remained positive.
"Don't worry, you're sure to win," Devonte reassured her, waving his hand dismissively. “If you can't beat that man's student, don't call us your mentors anymore."
A couple of days later, the two mysterious visitors arrived on Luna Island.
The three elderly men, along with Lilah, went to welcome them.
Yet, the reception seemed too modest for the guests, prompting them to make a dramatic gesture.
From their hand Luggage, they pulled out handfuls of banknotes and flung them into the air.
Lilah was completely taken aback.
She had witnessed extravagant gestures before, but nothing as mysterious as this.
"Wow, it's raining money, grab it quick!"
"Who is this lunatic, tossing money around like it's nothing!"
