"Gerard, shall we go back now?" At this moment, Karol came over with a smile. "We've been out for over two hours. It's time for your mom to take her medicine."

She appeared to have a strong bond with Gerard.

Lilah observed this interaction and felt a little suspicious.

Gerard gave a brief nod. "You take the car behind us."

Karol, unbothered, obediently moved toward the car.

“Mom had a relapse recently, and it was Karol's acupuncture that helped manage her condition. She has been treating Mom for some time,"

Gerard explained briefly.

Lilah's brow furrowed slightly. She hadn't realized Karol was capable of treating illnesses, especially using acupuncture.

She was uncertain.

Upon Lilah's return to the Harris family home, Brenda's glassy eyes immediately lit up when she saw Lilah. She waved excitedly, clearly delighted.

“Brenda, how are you feeling?" Lilah smiled and took Brenda's hand.

Brenda had a dark and gloomy presence, looking pale as if something terrible had happened.

Brenda sighed, feeling helpless. "It's always the same story. I've said there's no point in treating it, just let me be, but they keep trying. I'm covered in needle marks from all the treatments, and it hurts."

Lilah was at a loss for words. Just then, Karol walked in with a bowl of medicine and some delicious-looking candied fruits.

“Brenda, please don't think that way. As long as you're healthy and happy, that's all we, the younger ones, wish for." Karol smiled widely as she put down the tray.

Brenda playfully said, "You sweet talker, always trying to cheer me up. These medicines you give me are making my skin look unhealthy."

Lilah observed quietly.

Was Karol truly that effective at comforting Brenda?

Brenda had always been known for her bad temper.

Karol prepared to give Brenda her acupuncture treatment next.

Lilah observed Karol's technique, which seemed oddly familiar.

She watched silently, deep in thought.

“Karol, I didn't know you practiced acupuncture. Where did you learn it?" Lilah asked.

Karol responded openly, “Lilah, you might not know this, but I've been learning from the famous doctor, Blair Scott, since I was a teenager, and later, I studied on my own from ancient texts for a few years. It's been over a decade. I may be young, but I'm just as skilled as the older practitioners. Wouldn't you agree, Brenda?"
